Tension rods will not hold for long. I tried it. Also in my experience it was actually cheaper and less time consuming to simply buy a shoe rack than it was to buy the amount of tension rods I needed, plus the time it took to fix them over and over again when they started to slide down the wall.

When my second son was born, I bought a bright yellow plastic toolbox for his older brother (aged two). He dubbed it the "Choking Hazard Box" & he stored all his toys which would otherwise be dangerous to his little brother. This responsibility was enthusiastically embraced by my elder son as HIS consentiousness kept his "widdle brother" safe. We bought a combination lock for it and he was allowed to play with those toys in his room...provided he was responsible and put them away promptly when finished/before leaving the room. Even at two years old he never ONCE left a choking hazard out...and he loved being able to play with his lego and other small toys/arts & crafts equipment and the tools he was proficient with at the age of three years old. This idea (and others) utterly difused the specter of sibling rivalry which plagued so many other families.

Another suggestion for make-up addicts: a tacklebox, which are available in multiple sizes. They come with divider slots and dividers to set the size of the cells and are great for keeping lipsticks/glosses, palettes, pencils, etc. all in one place and organized. It's been over 3 years since we made the bar system, & it took me that long to empty my 1st bottle of freebreeze, as we use it mostly on the garbage pail between liners. I just like having different scent options... LOL But seriously, I think it's because all those cleaners & stuff have good bottles, & the rod is high quality/large. I like that she uses general labels for her canisters. Cereal, snacks, pasta...not lucky charms, granola bars, fettuccine. If you make it hyper specific the first time you want to switch it up your labels won't be accurate. It's okay if you have multiple labelled the same way such as pasta. It's there for different kind of pasta and you see what it is so you can get different kinds according to your menu plan or store availability and the label always works.

@AlienShake I think she made the transparent labels by printing words on copy paper, cut to size and cover with wide transparent parcel tape. Soak for a few seconds in plain water, rub paper off til you just have the word, stick to your container. Great if you don’t have a Cricut/Silhouette Machine. Hope this helps.

@lethiapage4767
@lethiapage4767 Жыл бұрын
@@bowwow7505 I get you there bow wow and I actually don't have labels on my stuff either. I think if it was more than just me I would. While you make a valid point there is at least one reason for labeling. It helps with inventory if you tend to buy the same things over and over the container itself becomes a placeholder for missing items so...if you are looking through making your shopping list and see an empty container marked pasta then you know to add it. You may notice an unmarked container and the absence of pasta but this leaves less doubt. And when you get home there's already a place for it in the right size and type of container for the job. Anyone helping you knows where to put the new stash. It helps with confusing two empties so you won't be putting your pasta in an empty cereal keeper which would cause it to take on breakfasty smells, for example. Just in general in any family space it helps to have labels so everyone can participate in the system without a lot of micro management. Less confusion, better teamwork, easier to delegate esp if you are the type who defaults to "it's easier to just do it myself". Plus how on earth will you find a way to use your cricut cutter if not for neat pantry labels? 🤪

3:13 Using water to remove the paper and leave the printed image on the tape is a clever idea. It should be noted that it will only work with toner (laser printer) or solid ink, though. An inkjet image will just bleed when it gets wet since it's water soluble, and will pull away with the paper since it doesn't sit on the surface like toner and solid ink do.

My aunt does some of these, like hangers on doors and stuff, and we learned some things. Be careful about what you hang and where! Doors aren't designed to bare a vertical force that the loaded storage hook has. ESPECIALLY if you have one of those hooks that goes over the top of the door. The weight of anything hung there is added stress directly on the hinges. Over time, the door gets all wonky and never shuts right again. The hinge is bent, the screws are bent, and the holes in the wood are stripped. If it's REALLY heavy the door might crack or break outright. Congrats! You have a fun repair on your hands or need a new door just because of a storage hook.

I swear I must have the smallest undersink cabinet and the most hoses! I labeled the ones for the basement: AAA batteries, AA batteries, Other batteries, Carabiners, Clamps, Door hardware, etc. It's so easy to find little things that would otherwise get lost in a bigger unit. These spice jars look just like the jars that the organic Walmart brand spices come in. If you just buy those when you need new spices and replace your old spice containers over time. The uniform, glass look is what makes it look so great.

@@carolinapatriot9651 Ahhhh, ai if I buy 20-30 of the cheapest spice, empty those into one huge jar for storage, I'll get uniform jars for free! What a great idea... thanks, bc I've been trying to find jars & just can't pull the trigger on such an expensive upgrade

In my experience, Command strip hangers almost always fall down. Even with proper prep of the wall or cabinet surface and with very little weight hanging from them.

Get extra measuring spoons/scoops so you can designate one per container and store it inside with the food. Spoons with food dust on them, hanging on the outside of the container, will attract moths.
