Update
Use RTV Silicone Instead of the grease
Cost like little over $8 link below
shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/p...
Why; because after a long while (about a month) of driving the Noise comes back with the grease
I show how to get rid of the knocking shuttering noise most Toyota Camry make when you go over 60, or press the brake after do 60 or just even hitting a bump
It's not a hard job it just take a lot of parts to come off just to get to it which I show you how, inorder to save you over $700

To be able to deliver such a high-quality instructional video from the parking lot of an auto parts store is most impressive. Well done, sir! You saved me $700.

You don't need to remove the column from the shaft! Just follow these instructions, lower the entire column leaving the steering shaft attached. With a slight rotation will come down far enough to easily get the three bolts off to remove the motor. Vacuum out the old pieces, install new part and reverse everything. Also, the black plastic air vent doesn't just pop off...it broke one of my clips. Use a small flat screwdriver on the very top of the plastic vent you will feel a slot, pry gently up and the part will release.

This guy saved me so much money. After being told it was the suspension, then intermediate shaft, and then tire rods, I stumbled across this video. I bought the part for $5 from Toyota and did it myself. Hardest part was taking off the air vent but other than that took me 4hrs and got an alignment afterwards. Thank you so much for a great video and saving me so much money

Great video, I just did this job today in my shop. Instead of using the grease or silicone, you can just buy the new bushing for $17.00. The grease will push out and the silicone you will have to wait for it to set up and cure before using it or it will be a short term fix because the clearance will push out again. I shortened the entire process. I pulled the covers and removed the air con vent. That was the hardest part of the job. I disconnected the two wires on the right side by the vent that he shows in the video and pulled the black loom out of the connecter at the same place. the whole assy will just drop to the floor at that point. You don't need to disconnect any of the wires going to the steering wheel or remove the steering assy from the car. Just undo the four veritical 12mm mounting nuts and set the unit on the floor board. Unbolt the three bolts he shows in the video remove the wore out damper and replace. I love watching these videos J C it was the only one out there that let me see where all of the components were before I got into it.

The rattle noise was driving me crazy. It sounded like it was coming from behind the instrument cluster. I followed the instructions in the video, and when I opened the motor, sure enough, green plastic pieces were everywhere. Cleaned and greased. Put back together, and noise rattle is gone. Heck of a mechanic. Great video.

You are the best! Very thorough and detailed to the point. I struggle with putting the spline back. Back to you vid and there it was. Just one thing that I came across was that while the steering is out it can move and lock. Insert the key turn and straighten the wheel before reassemble. Awesomeness!

Just finished this up myself. Thanks for the video, really helped. I was fortunate to be able to purchase the bad part, $8 . It's called the steering motor damper. Saved $550. The hardest part was the stupid air vent. Took me a little less than 2hrs to complete.

I followed your instructions and noise is gone, I just want to acknowledge that the fact you did most of this with one hand is super impressive! I didn’t have to do the final part where you separated the piece with the flat head and hammer i just replaced the part after I dropped the column. But great video , can’t believe how well you short it while doing the job man. 5stars

Dude! Fantastic video! This noise has been driving me nuts ever since I bought my '17 Camry 4 years ago. I JUST figured out it was the steering column yesterday and as soon as I searched 'steering noise' instead of 'dash rattle' your video came up. Mad props for your skill and knowledge and for filming the entire process. As others have said HUGE bonus for doing it in an auto parts store parking lot. A+ !!!
