Thanks for your info. I don't have a Colt, but my Walther PDP magazines were not locking back after last round. I stretched out the mag springs on the 2 that were acting up and presto, they starting not locking back after last round. Thanks again!

I returned the 2 Checkmate magazines that came with my O1991 Government Model from 2018. Colt somehow forgot to send me new ones and it took almost a year to contact them. I eventually got an email from them after trying a few times and I finally got 2 new mags about a month later. The finish is gloss black instead of the original blued ones I sent in. And the followers and feed lips are a different style. They don't match my pistol anymore and I've tried each of them once so far (just got them a couple days ago so they still need further testing) and at least they functioned the one time. I bought 3 Wilson magazines while I was waiting for nearly a year; and almost 2000 rounds later the Wilsons have never failed me! Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with the 1911, but those 2 magazines that came with it were absolutely unreliable. They were beautiful looking with a gorgeous blued finish... but they never functioned reliably from the git-go.

I just got finished repairing two Chip McCormick 10 round magazines that had this issue right out of the package. I took the followers out and placed a real small allin wrench in the v and squeezed the two together. Now they work great.

Thank you for helping me understand how this part of the gun works. Mine was a brand new Charles Daly 1911 Field model. Was not locking back after last round. I oiled the mag tube and pushed the mag in and released it repeatedly. After a little use it seems to work okay.

I cleaned 3 magazines for my Colt Defender last night and had to give it a much stouter push than normal in order to seat it in place with 7 rounds, one in the pipe. Thought at first it may have been a problem with just the one, but I'm experiencing it with all 3 mags. I can't recall ever having this issue before. I don't want to experience a possible FTF, so I dropped them down to 6 rounds, and they all seated easily as before. Wondering if it's just going to take a few days for the springs to settle back in? Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks very much.

Mines got stuck twice. Pushed mag firmly into gun and hit the mag release same time.

What if the magazine ejects fine when cold, but after running through a few rounds the mag won't drop. I have 3 mags from 2 different companies, and every one of them does this. Cold, no problem, but after firing, I can't release it and have to hold the mag release and pull the magazing out with a bit of force.. any ideas?? Faulty mag release??

Is there a difference of mags of government model series 80 , Colt 45 MARK IV,to any other 1911 , caliber 45 mags , because when I want to purchase another mags for MARK IV ,it does not fit ,the placements of my mags is smaller in width , pleased give me some tips of what should I do ,,thanks, from the Philippines ♥️

I've been enjoying my first 1911, a Springfield Garrison .45. I got it last month but I can't say I trust it to work if/when it matters most. For that reason my G19 is still my most trustworthy defensive piece. I've got the mag that came with it and two mec-gar 8 round mags and all of them jam when feeding rounds. I just can't trust it. I don't ride the slide forward when feeding either. I know better than that.

Why do I have issue trying to use Hornedy 9mm Critical defense and will not load with my 1911 9mm Light Weight Commander? Its jams into the ramp

I have the 2017 colt defender 9mm . I have the same problem with some makes of Hollow Points. The 1911 was designed for military Ball ammo. I found the best functioning was Horndy Critical Duty.

When a magazine is stuck, instead of holding the slide back with one hand couldn’t you just turn the barrel bushing and take the recoil plug off? No more tension.

The way I solve the magazine issue is, I carry a fu***ng revolver......NOT A COLT.

Now, now sir. Colt makes excellent revolvers. I own several (many), as well as, S&W's starting from 1872. If I do my part, they always seem to do their part.

Time for Colt to design a modern 1911 magazine that can't cause these issues. IE: a solid and replaceable magazine follower. If it's a known and common issue, why is Colt addressing the symptoms instead of the cause (Outdated follower design)? Thanks for the video but the design needs to be updated.
