It does work. If you have paint with clearcoat mixed already its great. I buffed it out with Wolfgang compound and it looks great.

He had actual body damage, he was trying to fill paint scratches inside of a dent basically. That's why it doesn't look good

It'll look fine from a few feet away compared to how a white gouge on a black car draws the eye. Not every car needs a perfect cosmetic repair or the time investment.

This is a great video for 99% of people who don't have skill for full repair. I'll be trying this on the edges of a hifi amp, which i will mask off first up to edge. (2 or 3mm)

You never mix paint and clear coat!!! Should be two layers! First paint and than clear coat!!

mladjo72 this is true if we are speaking of full body paint job, here is about fixing a scratch, if you are doing your way you will have the portion inside the scratch higher than the rest of paint so this means you must do a more aggressive polish that will make the scratch even more visible. Any way you are free to do whatever you want so good luck.

I thought what I did was wrong because really near the damage you can see it, but as far you cannot. I used a fix it paint from pepboys and later used polishing compound by hand. Did not use any sandpaper at all. I did this like 2 years ago can I use sand paper what number? To make it look better?

Use sandpaper with a granulation of 3000 if its your first time with sandpaper try on another surface not on the car! Use water when sanding.

It's a good technique but since you didn't fill in the dented plastic with body filler the end result looks like shit. I don't know why you skipped the body filler because if you had to sand all they way down to the white plastic bumper itself, then you may as well have done the proper body prep. The paint or final finish will ALWAYS ONLY be as good as the prep work. Other than that the idea of mixing the paint and clear coat then applying with a brush is a great method!

This is probably not a showcar. Getting a bumper cover repainted professionally can cost over $1000 in some areas. This repair is good enough for me.

Yeah I wonder how long that is going to last, first of all you have those huge dents in there and that calls for a new panel altogether but aside from that painting your car with a brush over you old paint... Well that is going to start chipping after the first wash with a power washer... I tried to fix small rock marks on my front bumper with this method and it didn't last, I cant imagine this will either.

2 years have passed and the bumper is still ok without repainting it. next time use better paint or degreaser

+myrtho charles for this particular case we didn't use any primer as a preparatory coating, just a degreaser to help with the paint adherence to the surface. using primer on scratches will make very hard to fill and get an even surface.
