Thanks!! I suggest using Zeiss Lens Wipes for cleaning the clear plastic and the roller, particularly if some adhesive or other substance is deposited on the clear plastic or the roller.

I inserted an alcohol soaked qtip on exit side and ran it back and forth a few times. Fixed it

Thank You! Nice job. Its alway a bit scary negotiation through the fastners. I'm alway afraid that I'm going to break one or two by applying to much force, but no problem this time. My model was th ES -60W. It has a small battery attached to the power cords. Really not hard to figure out what I needed to do beyond what you did here!

I think I commented on prying with my fingers to dig out a small piece of tape stuck on the glass. Several times lines have show up ruining my scans. This can be resolved by resetting the scanner.

Here's a great hack: Just feed it a few times with a printing paper sprayed with alcohol. SOLVED!

Had these faint lines and tried the cleaning sheet which came with this scanner, used it first, completely useless. Used it with some rubbing alcohol, no change. I then took apart as directed in this video, cleaned that glass area of it (around 3 minutes in) as I noted some very faint marks, like really faint. I used rubbing alcohol to clean it. Comparing two scans, before and after, a center line I had got fainter, two other lines got subtly fainter and I gained a line somehow on one side, bugger me. Keep in mind it doesn't take much to get lines. You need keen close vision eyesight to pick up on these. Noted in this video the two connector ribbons. Not everything comes apart as easily as it looks here. I couldn't budge them so I left them connected. Also underneath one of the rubber feet, there are subtle differences and I did not have a screw located under one of the feet. And take note a longer screw than most will go under the foot. Basically, the marks I still have are comparable to like seeing dust on glass. For now I will leave it but the video was quite good in showing how to take it apart for cleaning. Not the easiest gadget to take apart, be in no rush when you do it.

Too many steps for me. It inspired me to see if I could see the scan surface. The scan surface must be plexi rather than glass, so I was able to put my thumb in and pry the exit side to see two small pieces of paper or tape stuck on. I used tissues soaked in rubbing alcohol on a straightened paperclip to clean off the residue. Works perfectly now.

This worked for me. You have to push with the alcohol soaked fiber-free tissue pretty far in with the paper clip to reach the scan surface, then slide it across. The black line is gone. I just am dismayed at how fast the scanner got "dirty". I had only scanned 5-6 pages!
