Thanks for another great video, Mark! The new "Toy" looks like it would work great if traveling, and for items that wouldn't fit in the ES-400 (either too big, or too small). Still, I would think feeding 1200 (if you're scanning front and back separately) cigarette cards through would be more time consuming than using the flat bed scanner. Before I bought the Epson, I used my flat bed scanner, and a program called RansenScanV, that would scan once, then automatically crop each card separately. Like you, I bought the program, no affiliate association with it, I just really liked using it. - Bob

I was happy to watch this video. I've been using a camera but felt I needed a scanner to be more efficient. Found a es400 on ebay without power cord for $70 plus 20 ship and I offered a flyer $35 plus $20 ship and to my surprise he accepted! I was hoping for $55 I made a good purchase. Already ordered a power cord for 20 😀 Thanks for the great video and comparison Mark!

I actually liked the new epson scan better than all the others. However, I did understand where you were coming from. the water in the front was CLEARER. I was actually pretty disappointed in the fujiscan as I was thinking of purchasing one, everyone says that is so great, glad I did not purchase that $500 scanner. I would have only used it for my postcards so that is quite an outlay of cash just for that! Thanks for the video, learned something new AGAIN!

Seems like this would be a good option for thicker items that don't bend through the other scanners, like sports cards. Also might work well with those long panorama photos.

Mark, I bought one on your recommendation I like it a lot. Could not afford, at this time, the big one you have. It has a few quirks. If a card has a black border it will not recognize it completely. I just go into photoshop and enlarge the card and add black. I only scan 10 or 15 at a time and then list so not worried about having to do hundreds, yet.

Can these style scanners capture a bit of blank white background to get a better idea of the condition on the edges? I have a new pile of cards to scan and am dreading it! I need to order a new scanner, you are correct, the flatbeds are tedious! But I do like the quality.

Thanks for another great video, Mr. Rogers! That little scanner looks like a great option for genealogy research and such, I've been looking for something like that. Do you think it would do slides? I was surprised that the Fujistu didn't do as well, could it be a color setting that throws it off?
@SMPostcards

To warm for sweater :) Not sure about slides but I think they need a light source to view well. I know squat about slides. Fujitsu has a selection of resolution settings from Automatic down to normal. I set them as close as possible

I too hate flat bed scanners. I have not tried my 3x5” trade cards yet in my Epson ES 400. Have you tried that size and does it work? I might consider one of these smaller scammers because I have a few hundred to list. I was shocked by the results of the camera and scanners. Thanks for the information.

Thank you for ANOTHER informative video! I am about to start flipping postcards and the like... I have a question about this scanner. I tested one on a postcard and a trading card. It did not scan the top edge of either, that's not a good thing for trading cards. Are you having this issue? is there a work-around?? Again thanks again for the videos!
@SMPostcards
@SMPostcards 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have found that as well on some scans. I try not to push in to far so scanning starts on the edge. Also there is an adjustment parameter in the Scan Smart software under "Device Settings >>.> Adjustments" "Start Scanning Position" Here is one of my cigarette card listings that I have scanned with the ES-60W Scanner. If you click on image it zooms out and looks ok to me. www.ebay.com/itm/354039290911. The Epson 400 Scanner puts like a border look on images so if edge of card is all white it will look better. The Scan Snap Fujitsu Scanner does not do that. Hope this help! Any other questions let me know I will see if I can answer them.

@@SMPostcards THANK YOU! for your reply... I really like the speed of this thing, ES60W. This scanner is taking out at least 3 steps in my listing workflow (2 less pictures to take and no transferring from camera to PC.) I think I will use a work-around and scan the fronts & backs in both directions. That way people can see the edges, which is really important in trading cards. I won't mind putting "played" TCG cards through the scanner, those aren't in what people call 'mint' condition to begin with. Sportscards.. ehhhh ... maybe some of them. When I get around to listing the postcards I've been accumulating, I may do the same thing depending on the border or lack of a border. Take care and thank you for the response to this. A newbie here. Frustrated with camera lighting, I just ordered tnis sweet scanner. QUESTION: If you scan 20 cards, do you save it out in one pdf file? Save as Jpg? Is it easy to open each card separately to list one at a time on ebay?

That scanner is a good one for starting out and doing low volume, it is not duplex so you have to scan each side. Also go to this link and download the Settings I have for this Scanner ko-fi.com/smpostcards/shop/epsonscannersettings It will save you time and yes it can be configured each scan separately.
