For so long I was stuffing a towel in the space between the top of the fridge and the freezer because of the gap in the fridge's gasket, which caused lots of water condensation on the ceiling of the fridge. I used a combination of your hair dryer idea and another video's idea of using vaseline for the flexibility and the 'stickiness'--now it's all fixed. Thank you!

It works! Just tried it on a newly installed gasket where the gap was 1 to 5mm on the door handle side using a heat gun set at 180'C, took about 5-10mins. Many thanks for the tip.

Yes i just changed out the seals today and found a huge gap on the whole top! I hairdryer blow it a few times and got rid of the gaps incrementally, had to stay longer and hotter at some spots. Thanks man!!!

Actually I was looking to see if anyone tried to use a hairdryer to warm it up & pull it back out until it cooled off & maybe it would stay out, mine is a brand new refer with a 1/4" gap on the hinge side but I didn't want to make it into a ruffles potato chip & void warrantee. I couldn't find anything on it until this video popped up, I tried it & it worked like magic. I put heat on it & it expanded out by itself perfectly!!!

Thank you for the feedback! You can pull it out with your fingers and wait for it to cool down but its better to sometimes put something like foam or blutack underneath the seal until it cools down instead of using your fingers. glad this helped

@@cookiemama4 I'd suggest heating it up first, it really depends how big the gap is. If heat doesn't work then i use heat and bluetak together. if both options fail then you most likely need to remove the door and put it back on straight.

@@vaishalibhatt574 You dont use vaseline to remove the gap. Vaseline is used to make the door sticky so its harder to open. Hair dyer will fix the gap - When you heat up the rubber seal, it allow the magnets inside to pull across and seal the fridge properly.

I have been trying to do this for a long time, and i kept heating the entire gasket around the door, and it never worked. I tried this and it worked, focusing only on the area where there is a space. I am still getting moisture inside the freezer, no frost just water collecting in the gasket at the bottom possibly from moisture condensing in the warm area under the freezer. I have never seen anyone address this.

Lol depends on how bad the damage is and if the magnet is missing from inside the seal. Prob best using Vaseline, if door sometimes opens this adds layer of suction or seal and makes door harder to open.

I had to do this to my new built in fridge. didn't even know that about 6 inches of the top seal wasn't connected to the fridge. I just happened to check one day bc the door seemed to open too easily and it didn't feel like there was a strong seal. with a built in it's also hard to see if it's actually sealer bc it's hidden by the cabinetry. anyways I used a blow dryer bc this 6 inch area was compacted and not as poofy as the rest. blow dried it used my fingers to pull it out s bit to reform the shape. now they part seals. amazes me that something like the gasket isn't looked over and checked during the QC. it's not like the gasket was stored in packaging. but I guess prior to assembly the gaskets could all be stored somewhere and warped.... I'm just ranting at this point.

I removed my rubber seal gasket on a samsung bottom freezer to clean because I was having problem with icing on the bottom door. and R corner. Instead of improving,, the icing spread to top and bottom. The gasket had small hole which had putty dot plugs 2-3 mm and correlating to a dip in the seal track. During cleaning the dots fell off and I am wondering if these opening holes could be part of my problem? Should I try plugging the hole with plumber's putty? I also noticed the rubber seal on the bottom had more ice inside the seal? I don't know if it's from washing the seal and some water entered or if the warm air inside became water ?

Yes you can but there is a high chance you will melt the seal with a heat gun if you don't know what you are doing. You can use anything really, warm water works well - i've even put the seal in a clothes dryer or in the sun for a little while.

It will stay in that shape forever, as long as you let it cool down for at least 15 mins after heating it. you can also put the seal in warm water to get the same effect but i find a hair dryer is easiest. If the gap is too big for the seal to cover then you will need to adjust the door hinge / Bend the door or get a new seal thats taller. - Fridge Seal

What temp setting on the hair dryer? My neighbor has an upright freezer that has a pretty good gap toward the bottom on left side. I am between trying the heat thing or rotating the gasket which would put the gap on the top right corner on the hinge side where gaskets seem to fit tighter. Thing is, if it has been in this same position long enough, might have the same problem. The gasket was dripping across the bottom of the door. I had to loosen the screws across the bottom and about three in each side going up to reattach it. Still has the gap on the left side just around the corner going up about 6 to 8 inches. Also considering loosening the hinge screw and the screws all around the liner holding the gasket in just enough to allow movement when I close the door and apply enough pressure for the gasket to make contact with the cabinet all the way around. I would then tighten the hinge screen, open the door and tighten all the gasket/liner screws. But U don’t really feel this is a warped door. But, with the process I am talking about and a little heat, I might cover all basis.

You need to use the right amount of heat, you can soak your seals in warm water for 1 minute and that will fix the problems. if there is still a gap that means you need to loosen the top hinge and re adjust the door then tighten the screws back up.

I waited 3 months for a new gasket for an old apartment refrigerator. The maintenance guy finally put it on, it has little holes in the side and wrinkled inside. He said it would "settle"? That was 6 days ago. I used your method with a blow dryer, thank you. It worked a little. I still have to shut it hard for the gaps close I was wondering if sending you a video means having to join and pay monthly. I would love your help. I now am supposed to get a new refrigerator (this will be the 3rd one in 1.5 years." It will come in 3 weeks. I would prefer to just to fix this "new" gasket that was either used, refurbished, or I don't know what. No one is willing to look at it. Sent pictures to the manager and he said it will "settle" hahaha. Had been on backorder and it's the weirdest looking gasket I've ever seen. Thanks so much for your video. It does take a couple of days to settle in but if the seal was folded for too long, the magnets inside would be twisted/misshaped and it can take quiet a while for the magnets to straighten out. If its a tiny small hole punch around the joins, thats fine - this is to stop the seal bouncing back when you close the door.
