Thank you for saving me from having to call the appliance repair guy! Our Affinity front loader (model FAFW3511KWO) actually has an opening in the bottom that gives you really easy access to the pump area and coin trap. No need to disassemble the washer, just tip it back enough to work on it. Found some rocks and COVID masks, among other things, clogging it up. Works like new now! Made my wife, who didn't believe I could do it, very happy. You're the man!

Wanted to say a huge thank you for the simple step-by-step instructions! This was my first repair since my husband passed and your video made it a success. Only had to call the neighbour to borrow a pair of vice grips and help with the clamps. Took awhile, but followed each step, struggled through those darn clamps and bagging the water, replayed the video steps backwards to put it all back together and she's working wonderfully again with no leaks! I didn't believe I could do it but with help of a friend and your great video, you saved me from having to call in a repairman. Thank you again!

But ran your video back and fourth several times. The instructions were a great help, for the 68 year old man. I was a engineer a long time ago, .. Thanks again

Thank you man! Got this set (w/dryer) for a measly $275 from someone who had it in storage. Started up to clean and no drainage. As soon as I followed your directions and got to that pump, I could see why it was in storage. Bobby pins, a pound of wet material and probably $3 in change lol. Another tip for people doing this if you have the pump off you can reach up into the cavity of the washer. I managed to pull a sweater string out of there. Thanks so much man, don’t usually comment on these but you made my small investment well worth it!

Great video w great ideas. HOWEVER, i accidentally fouNd out it SO MUCH EAISER TO LAY THE UNIT ON ITS SIDE. There's access hole underneath and you right THERE where you need to be! I disconnected the main drain hose from DRUM(wide one), then the DRAIN HOSE itself, then white cannister (the DIFFICULT ONE). Twist, break the attaching white clip, making access easier to remove and reinstall tri hose connection. It took 30 mins for completion. I DID'NT HAVE TO REMOVE TOP OR REMOVE DOOR SEAL OR THE CONTROL BOARD OR REMOVE THE FRONT LOADING DOOR ASSEMBLY.... HOWEVER I AM VERY GRATEFUL TO YOU BECAUSE YOU HAD GREAT TECHNIQUE AND INFO!

I'm actually glad I didn't see this comment and went with the disassembly route. Unclamping the coin catcher was tricky even with the front off. Also I had a lot of water trapped in the machine which may have spilled onto electronics if I had it on the side.
@johnloiselle7823 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! The model I had was a little different but your instructions still were 95% applicable where it mattered. The main difference was that it wasn't one cable to disconnect, it was 5 or so and they were all tie wrapped together. Rather than disconnecting, I just rotated the front out of the way and ensured that the cables weren't pulled significantly during the work. There was a huge clog; twist ties and enough fabric to make a sock. Put it back together and all those puppies are barking nicely now!

Thank you so much. Affinity machines are terrible for accessing parts. Had to clean out Under the lint trap on the dryer and cursed the manufacturer for the most Un-user friendly construction. Same for accessing this coin trap and pump on the washer. Wow. Found a video that showed a machine with a removable panel, but needed to know how to take the whole machine apart. I absolutely had to have a second pair of hands for the squeeze clamps during reassembly and for getting the stretch ring around the door back on during reassembly. Your step by step instructions were perfect, and I am so grateful. And my machine works!

Thanks for the easy to follow instructions Caesar. My wife and I watched your video, and decided to give it a try. Two hours later, we were all back together again. The Frigidaire Affinity runs like new. We had no idea that the machine was nine years old. It had worked flawlessly up until it stopped draining. The coin trap was full of coins, pocket crap, and enough dog hair for a bird to make a new nest. Your video saved me the cost of a new pump and repair call. Thank you sir. After your instructional video, anyone with basic tools, patience, and fundamental mechanical knowledge, can handle this job. Tom from Connecticut.

Another satisfied customer. You probably saved me at least a couple hundos. The guts of my Affinity were slightly different as my pump was oriented a bit differently but everything was pretty spot on. The white plastic filter thingie in the rubber pump was absolutely disgusting. I found a chunk of the drivers license from the former owner of my house in there along with coins, sediment and what seemed like bits of towels. Cleaned that out, put everything back together (way harder than taking it apart) and I am back in business. Can't thank you enough!

Hi Caesar, I owe you a very big THANK YOU! This video is a perfect example on the power and good of the Internet. This morning my Affinity washer would not drain. I tried to look at the hoses to see if they were clogged and they were not. Then I found your fantastic video and watched it about 3 times and took a deep breath and took on the job. It was especially motivating when you said the repair might cost me $600. So I took my time and had your video playing back and forth. Perfect! Followed your video and fixed it! Suggestions for others' success: I used the bag idea to collect the water, but I set the bag inside a wide, flat tupperware (like for brownies), so that it was easy to pull out - no tearing, snagging, flopping or sloshing. I did not even try to mess with those horrid green clamps once I had them off. I bought hose clamps (the kind that tighten with a screw) to make my life easy from the start. $2 each and WELL worth the time saved! Thanks for the help. Wonderful, this fixed mine! Took us just about 2 hours. We used a wet/dry vac to control the water and minimize the stinky spillage. Somehow a dryer sheet ended up in the wash and sucked into the drain. Coat that in some hair and it had plugged solid.

Thanks, got the job done. There are a lot of steps, but most of them are pretty quick. I think the hardest part was reattaching the coin catcher. I'm glad I followed the disassembly steps instead of trying to get through the access hole. That would have been really tricky to get everything clamped back on correctly.

This did the trick! My pump/trap placement was actually a bit easier to get to on my model. The only "oh crap" moment was when I plugged it back in and it came up and wouldnt spin. If you have a washer of this style, but not exactly this model, there's an easier way to get to the coin trap in some cases. Mine let me remove a large access panel in the back with just a few screws, and had an access opening in the bottom. That got me out of taking it apart. I could directly reach the trap.

Thanks for the info. I'll never get this type of washer again. I had a perfectly good LG front loader that had a easy access filter to get all my dog hair out in a snap. Inherited from my grandmother thay paid well over $1000 for the pair a few years ago. This washer is overall so much worse. More noise, not easy to work on. Doesn't clean as good and overall just annoying. The matched dryer I had to replace the eletric heating element twice. Makes good window units, never again with the affinity series washer/dryer

All washers should have a easy access pre screen filter with a drain tube. Disassembly of pretty much the entire washer is a terrible consumer design. I would think they want you to call a fridgair tech to drain your wallet. When my affinity series washer goes down hill. I'll happily just sell it to someone for pocket change as these are not even close to today's standards.

Vacuum out the tub and drain hose with a shop vac. That removes about 3/4 gallon or more of water. Then pull washer out about 2 feet, tilt it back against wall, stuff a large towel in the bottom-back and under the boot area and access coin catch boot by removing only the largest top retention ring. Fixed with clean-up in an hour and much easier. Usually the pump is not the issue. Tip: don't fill the washer with small items and large items, and don't stuff the small items to max either. The large items or overfilled washer tub will work small things like panties and small socks thru to the coin catch. That's what was in mine, clogging it...panties and a bikini top pad lol.

I ended up figuring this out on my own. God, those clamps!! I have hose clamps, I should have swapped them. Knowing that threaded hose clamps can cause damage if you over tighten, I chose not to use them. But at least I have them where they’re easier to reach now. Mine was nasty, totally packed and then some. I should have known when it took like 20 minutes or more longer to run a load than the timer suggested something was wrong. Mine had like 20 Bobby pins in it, $1 in change, a good amount of powdered metal (my family all works in the powdered metal industry), several pieces of jewelry, an old bra strap, and quite a bit of what I believe is old powdered laundry detergent. Most of that stuff is years old, some of the Bobby pins were half rusted away.

So I just cleaned out my pump, which was completely clogged, thanks for the great video! I do have question though, does that orange rubber gasket thing under the gray hose absolutely have to be there? Mine was deteriorated & I don't know where to get another one.

Thank you for the video. It makes the process way easier. I totally agree those green clamps are the worst.

Thanks for the video. Great step by step and found out a $20 bill was blocking the drain. I guess that was my service call payment for kids and wife not checking their pockets before loading washer.lol.

Couple easy steps?!?! lol I love the optimism... I'm about to undertake this for my second time. Doing it right this time, going down into the basement ready for war. The first time I didn't look at any instructions, tried to lug the thing out and go at it from the back, it was a disaster!!
