How to Fix Grinding/Tension issue with Bowflex Max Trainer M5

Your remedy totally worked!! We may have stripped the screw, but later replaced it. Now the resistance level is much more doable. Thank you so much, a repairman quoted us $375-425 for a home visit, but we were able to fix it ourselves.

First of all, the issue wasn’t the machine, your brother probably just needs to up his Lipitor dosage. Secondly, please include LJ in more of your videos. He makes a lot of great points regarding the severity of the problems.

Thank you! This expanded upon another video which suggested another solution. I'm confused about something though.. you were saying "horizontal" but the white thing didn't look horizontal.. was the white thing how it was Before you fixed it, or after? and let me get this straight: you pull Down on the cable going into hte white thing, and hold it while you twist the white thing counter-clockwise so that the top of the white thing is parallel to the floor (which isn't how it looked in the video)? and then you tighten that screw at the apex of the white thing so that it's tight and further down? and that's it? Meanwhile i have no idea how to take the front part off but i'm sure that'll be easy enough to figure out. i appreciate it!

This fixed the grinding issue for me, but the resistance changed quite a bit too. What was previously the maximum resistance (16) feels like a 3 now, it's drastically less. Is there something else I should be doing to fix that?

Edgar Jimenez I believe my brother called Bowflex and they sent him the part. I can call him tomorrow and ask him exactly how he went about getting it. I’m not sure if you watched the video all the way through, but it turned out that we didn’t even end up needing the part. The already existing part just needed adjusted. Not sure if that’s the same case for you or not, but I will update you once I talk to him :)

Anthony Cartwright 😂 I have no idea, but I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s my brothers, so I don’t know much more about them. I’m the handy one, so I was able to fix it lol. I’ll have to keep my eye out to see if something else goes wrong haha. Thanks for the view and comment :)

O dang that sucks. I’m sorry to hear that :/. Are you able to do it again? I know it’s not ideal, but maybe too but you some time into it can be repaired more permanently?
