Add another notch to your toolbench! I picked up a "dead" 2200d today and spent about 45 minutes using your fix to bring it back to life. I tell people to not be afraid to try and fix things, it's already broken and you have nothing to lose, this is a perfect example. Thanks for a clear and helpful video.

I got this squealing noise on my HP 2200dtn model and was just about to chuck it out as I tried everything, even spraying the cogs with WD40 to no avail. I thought I'd Google it to see what would come up and this video showed up and I thought I'd do what he said and BINGO it's now back up running thanks to this user. He certainly knows what's he's talking about... TOP GUY and cheers...

This is an AMAZING step-by-step tutorial. It's the best on the World Wide Web! Dude, thanks VERY MUCH for taking the time to make this great video and for posting it here. This helped me repair a really good old HP workhorse printer that I was just about to throw in the garbage, since nobody -- NOBODY -- knew what was making that shrieking noise. HP laser printers are the best and run forever, and you can get them used really cheap.

Mine died sometime well before 2018 & I found a step by step repair with photos & fixed it. Then my brother got married in 2012 & I gave him a 2200 as a wedding gift & in 2018 it started squealing & I sent him this link & he fixed it! Now, 2023, mine needs another drop of oil & I can't find my step by step, so I'm following your excellent tutorial. Worked great! My 2200 TDL is up to 180,299 one sided & 18,144 duplex pages & should last forever. I really really like your clean room!

Thank you, an excellent demonstration that worked perfectly. My brushless motor didn't have a bind and spun real smooth to start but a few drops of oil solved the problem. I was a little confused on removing the motor clip as the demo went off camera but after looking found the little plastic pin on the circuit board that held it together. Many thanks again.

I just did it, this neighbor of mine gave me a laserjet 2200, I didn't know if it worked and did not want to invest on a new cartridge for it. I followed the procedures only thing I didn't have any oil so after researching the web to find out vegetable oil is non conductive, this is what I used and now the printer works great. I will get some real machine tool oil tomorrow and I will redo the job right then. Thanks for the trick man

I don't believe it worked! And in my case, the motor spun just fine BEFORE I oiled it. I used Tri-flow which is used on bicycle chains. I just oiled up a small screwdriver, and let a drop fall off it into the center of the motor. Amazing! Many thanks!

Follow up: This worked an absolute treat. Back up and running 95%. I think my paper is incompatible as it feeds multiple sheets at once. Many many thanks . Not only was I able to completely clean out all the dust in this process, I also printed a service sheet and realized this tank has previously printed near 500k sheets. If you were wondering if hp laserjets are good? Hell yes. Half a million sheets?

This video gave me enough detail to fix it pretty easily. I do have some experience opening laser printers, changing rollers and other simple repairs. I would say that this procedure is of moderate complexity. I think anyone who can open a computer and change parts can do this one. I didn't have any warning sound, but the error light pattern indicated a problem with the laser-scanner unit. This will work with any 2200 series model. I'm not sure about the very similar but older 2100, which uses the same toner cartridge.

Fantastic video; perfect, easy to follow instructions, it worked a treat. The only difference with mine was, once I had taken the back of the laser box, I had to punch the motor out of its seat with a hammer and punch; pushing with a screwdriver did not work. Thank you.

There are still some of us keeping these things going. Thanks!! Oh, BTW, it seems the little plastic piece that you turn may only be for shipping to keep the head from "falling -up." Mine fell out (didn't put it back) and the scanner mirror can be removed without taking the circuit board out. I really like my 2200D - if only it had an alphanumeric display of trouble codes.

I found the oil on Ebay for $4.90 and got some blue gloves from a friend that had them at work. I went thru the whole video first, before I tried, to see what I was getting in to. Well, following the directions carefully, It now works. I was amazed! Thanks. It is hooked up to an XP computer on my network and is shared. Still the same service lights - 3 in the beginning and 2 after pressing buttons.
