the thing is, the way you said the method is to prevent it doesnt always work, i did it and it still updates it. I had to create my own .bat file to add components to the registry to prevent it from updating. Also, if this happens, you dont need to reinstall the drivers, you can just go to the device manager and roll back the driver update (go to device manager>Display Adapters>Right click on Amd Radeon gpu driver>go to properties>driver>roll back drivers>select my apps dont work with this driver>then press ok) and it should work.

@@MikeTheTech ​ @MikeTheTech i will share, but i just wanna be clear i didnt actually create my own, but got it from a website, i will site the source at the end. Also, if you do this, it might prevent your driver from updating even if you update it through the adrenalin version, so everytime you have to update a driver, you should go to regedit and open: "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Restrictions\DenyDeviceIDs" (without the ") and delete the string values that contain your drivers hardware ids. And after the update, you could reactivate the bat to restore them so windows cant update em. (if you wanna know how to get the driver hardware ids, then click the site below so it can give a more detailed info about this process). i cant go into detail here but just go to this website: www.itechtics.com/disable-specific-driver-update/ and go to the "Using .REG File" section of the site, it would provide more detail.

Ok, first up, let me thank you for this great video. You clearly understood the problem and pointed to a solution. It worked perfectly. For about 1hr. Then, despite having followed the instruction to disable automatic downloads, it popped up with a very similar message: Windows Update may have automatically replaced your AMD graphics drivers. Hence, the version of Adrenaline you have launched is not compatible with your current drivers." I've checked, and automatic downloads are still disabled. I'm not sure what could have caused this.

its still updating even after disabling the auto update, i was monitored the network and windows update is still downloading stuff, i checked on windows update download directory, and yeah it will update no matter what. for me, the only option worked is disabling windows update completely

windows keeps reverting mine even though I have the setting turned off. It happens pretty often. Often enough that I just leave it and don't use the Radeon software. Not sure if it affects performance though.

Guys if this doesn't work and you're still having the problem I think I found the actual solution that no one else has your system bios is starting up on the wrong settings mine was setting up the original bios not the updated bios as soon as I switched it my computer is running a hundred times better

After windows update, I can't access radeon settings via right click mouse. The files is missing or removed by system I don't know. I check device manager and display adapter, but still functional. Be careful doing this. A few weeks after doing this my AMD driver download got corrupted, and it failed to install the driver (it uninstalled the old drivers during the failed install process), the PC restarted and all I got was an "Input not Supported" error message from my monitor. Took the GPU out, same error (I have CPU with integrated graphics). Luckily I could borrow a monotor from a friend and it worked, so I put the GPU back in, downloaded the drivers and got it to work on my original monitor. The settings you disable in the "Device Installation Settings" tab/popup is designed to automatically fix these issues if/when they arise by allowing windows to install basic drivers for your device (so it can work in some sort of capacity). Disabling them can brick your PC (or at the least be a huge pain in the ass) if you don't have a compatable monitor. This setting 'can' also make it so if say your mouse breaks, you just plug another one in, it might not automatically install the drivers for this "new" mouse, so you'll have to find/buy the exact same make and model of mouse. Be careful

This is not a solution. We are blocking Windows from automatically installing other drivers that might be very important.

Because I had this issue before and turned off the devce installation setting like you suggested and reinstalled adrenalin, but i was playing today and my game crashed randomly with no slow down before or anything so I restarted pc and am getting this annoying error again.. :/ I have the amd installer on my desktop now so I can just keep reinstalling when it happens but its becoming a nuissance lol. Usually driver crashes happen due to overheating protection (not having proper fan curves), or memory overflows /game code, bugs, etc.

Its even worse now, the newest version of Windows 11 22h2 SUCKS. Ryzen points to Microsoft and Microsoft points to Ryzen. I have Ryzen 5 4000 and ther driver doesnt seem to be compatible with the new version of Windows. 0-2 percent GPU usage. Im stuck and not sure what to do.
