How to fix knee pain and shoe discomfort on the bike? S-Works Torch + G8 2620

I've had comparable issues with too wide feet and switched to Lake Shoes after a recommendation during a bike fit. Their wide models are also solving these pressure issues on the outside super well. Though, the Torch simply look way better.

Also heard really good things about the Lake shoes and had them on my list as well but yes. As you say. I selected the sworks because of the clean looks. 🫣

I suffered similar problems for many years. Thankfuly I cured all my foot pressure point issues with Speedplay zero pedals with the 65mm spindles, Speedplay 14250 fore -aft extender base plates, and the final piece of the puzzle was the insanely comfortable Specialized S-works torch road shoes (wide fit)

Hey, thanks for these details. I was actually also trying to get some of these speedplay accessories and especially the wider spindles but couldnt find them anywhere in Germany. Happy to hear these fixed you problems on the bike 🤜🤛

G8 are absolutely brilliant. Fixed so much problems for me! Would recommend for anyone with even a minor problems caused by feet position.

@@klein-concept I’m looking at these g8 insoles my foot is falling in and ankle striking crank arm resulting in bloody ankle. Might try these. I just purchased Same shoes you have

@@tony5269 hope they will work for you. If your ankle is hitting the crans maybe also look at cleats with less float. I use speedplay which allow to dial in the float so that my foot stops before it touches the crank. Either way i think you will love the shoes.

Thanks a lot. Yes they do. For me it is the perfect road shoe. Gives me good stability, sit tight and comfortable at the same time.

Good review. A few years ago I designed a running shoe that had the asymmetrical features of that shoe. The lacing system left the toe box alone because I didn't see any point in squeezing toes together and the shoe was pulled from the sole against the side of your foot to support the arch. This all resulted in your foot being pushed into the heel cup for a very stable foot plant, with little to no slipping around. Would you say that describes this shoe? BTW, the heel collar on my shoe took into account the ankle bones being higher and forward on the inside and lower and further back on the outside. Again, good clear review. Thank you.

Wow you designed your own shoe 🤩 thats impressive. Was it a one off piece of would i be able to find it online as well? Could be a similar approach as i feel that my foot is sitting very firmly in the heal cup and the front boa dial is placed in a way that it does not squeeze my toes together. And thanks a lot. @@klein-concept After I went to Korea to source the materials and finalize the design, I went to Bangladesh to arrange the assembly. I brought back prototypes for the principles of the company and they were extremely happy with everything. Then, they decided to do something completely different. So, I got a nice trip out of the deal and got paid but sad to say, nothing more came of it.

Did you know that wedges is not best solution? some times the main reason of discomfort is disproportion in muscle, one part of them strong, other weak, or not mobile enough. Finding a good bike fit expert can help a lot.

Bezüglich dem Fersenkeil wäre ich davon ausgegangen, dass der Keil genau auf der Außenseite platziert werden müsste, um die (Fehl-) Achse wieder herzustellen und damit Schmerzen zu vermeiden. Jetzt wurde die Fehlstellung noch weiter unterstützt! Demnach ist aber auch der Spezialzed Schuh genau falsch und begünstigt mit der Keilstellung eine Fehlstellung. Wie auch immer, wenn es passt, wird es auch kein Problem sein.

Wenn ich es richtig verstanden habe, muss der keil unter den bereich packen in dem ich nicht richtig auftrete. Denn ohne keil, schliesse ich die lücke zwar, aber mein knie bewegt sich nach innen. Die einlage ist denke ich nicht dafür gemacht um meine fehlstellung auf dauer zu korrigieren, sondern passt den schuh eher an meine entenfüsse an. Sonst hättest du recht. Der keil müsste wahrscheinlich auf die andere seite um den fuss langsam in die richtige position zu trainieren.

😂 for me this has nothing to do with being cheap. I already went down the bike fit path and had custom insoles made for my previous shoes. But i liked the G8 solution as i can adapt it myself over time vs doing yearly adjustments with a bikefitter on custom insoles. I m too much of a hobbyist rider for needing that level of maintenance.
