Check the PCV valve thats on front of the intercooler. Its probably packed with sludge. I pulled my '05 FXT engine this year and that metal pipe was like a coronary after 70 years of big macs.

Thanks for this....I believe this is what is going on on my 05. Leaking like a garden hose watering plants. Hopefully will be able to remedy it before something worse occurs.

I cut the bracket holding the two hard pipes together with a dremel. Made this job a lot easier.

Whoa, I had this issue and all I did was take a long screw driver and tighten all the fuel line clamps. No more gas smell and didnt tske anything out. Took me about 3 minutes

Before swapping my engine i replaced everything thats consumable. Especially the fuel lines. I wanted to do the parallel setup but for my situation a better fuel pump will do.

It's better to use silicone lube rather than wd40 when getting rubber hoses apart because anything petroleum based will degrade the rubber

Yea mine does that every winter. Fixed it and still coming back but not as bad as before. Next time i might cut the fuel rail shorter

I bought an '04 Forester XT on a mechanic's special. I still haven't seen it run yet. Your leak was exactly where mine is. I was worried when I saw your car start because mine didn't. I have some hope because your leak looked like a drip. Mine was more of a SPRAAAAAAAAY. Hoping that the reason it didn't start is because fuel was going into the engine bay and not into the engine. You know, like it's sposed 2

Need to do a secondary air pump delete. Lucky for it has been done by the previous owner. Also change the tmic lol the factory one is so bad sti would be good.

Yep, those fuel lines under the intake are a pretty common failure on Subaru’s. They kinda suck lol

I try to use q-bond on broken vacuum anything plastic

The spaghetti lines for your purge canister can be deleted along with the purge canister. I ended up breaking one of the nipples to the purge valve and purge valve canister when installing new lines. I deleted the canister and capped off the ports associated with it. Theres videos of it on yt, but I would recommend doing that to clean up the engine bay a bit.

Thank you for this video. I have a gas smell inside the cabin on my ‘05 OBXT and it’s definitely more noticeable when the A/C vent is not on ‘recirculate’. I wonder if it’s the same issue..

Hmm maybe so. Or possibly an exhaust leak under the hood would cause an odor in the cab if recirc is off.

@@faze_sloth509-4 I have the parts/whole fuel rail to be replaced and tight everything down. But if I do, I’d need new vacuum hoses, don’t have those yet.

Mine stinks of fuel when it's get really cold outside anything below 20 degrees. It's the same fuel lines. I think it's common

It was cold now its warming up never noticed till Two days ago strong smell of Gass coming threw the vents

@06WRXDUDE. Hi. You are always helpful thanks for that. Question I have trouble pumping gas. I noticed that in my STI someone deleted the sensor you broke and just capped that vent gas line. Do you think that's why I can't pump gas easily? When gas goes into the tank is that the line where the air in the tank escapes to ? Since is capped could that be my problem? Or should I look into the charcoal canister?

I have an 05 wrx and when i start it it does that weird swoosh thing where is sounds like air. I noticed yours makes the same noise and in curious what it is.

That noise is the secondary air injection pump that kicks on for about 45 seconds after start up. Helps with some emissions or something...many people remove the system entirely

Ive got a 2002 wrx ej20, i have the same problem, i ended up taking whole intake off. The metal fuel lines are not lined up, when i put the new rubber hose in, its perfectly out of line, i did replace oem clamp with heaterhose clamps. still got this problem. 1 year later its still leaking :( rebuilt this whole engine top to bottom. Someone wana buy my car at this point?

Update, gona buy some braded fuel lines, and more tighter clamps should do the trick.
