How to Fix LG Dishwasher "IE" Error Code / Water Inlet

I recently ran into this Water Inlet Valve problem with my Dishwasher and all of the internet is saying it's the Water Inlet Valve. That's probably the case with some of them but you might want to check other things first before you waste your time and money!

Viewing this video was a life saver. Machine stopped with the 1E code, used the LG Test Mode and several steps indicated errors. Took off the door panel and there was the problem... three wires broken along with a ground wire. After digging wires from the black melted insulation and splicing the wires, the washer worked!

Hi William, thanks for your video! I removed the door and 4 of my wires were broken! My machine would start filling up with water for a bit and stopped with the 1E error code. I soldered the broken wires and taped up all wires into a harness and it's working. Thanks again!

My friend has a 1 year old LG dishwasher with ie code. We had already checked the water flow and nothing. After seeing your video we checked the wiring and noticed 3 wires broken maybe by a critter. Spliced the wires and everything working again. Thank you!

I fixed several burnt-through wires several years ago (cannot remember what the issue was then nor why I thought to look at the wiring!). Last week the dishwasher started throwing the IE code. Started with the water inlet as LG suggests, went online to find some videos on what needs to be disassembled to get to it, and found your video. I stopped what I was doing and opened the front up. At first, no visible broken wires. One had the insulation cracked, but the wire looked OK. Then as I fiddled, one of the wires I fixed last time came apart as I tugged on it. Damn - an imperfect solder I guess. Re-connected that wire, and cut and re-soldered the one with the broken insulation, just in case. Put it all together and it worked! Note: The first time, I added some foam between the inner part of the door and the wires, and another layer over the wires to keep them away from heat. Not sure if it helps, but I imagine it can't hurt! Thanks!

Man I actually paid for a brand new water inlet thing then realized it afterwards. I still have the water inlet. Now going back in time, I realized it was a waste of money and the wires shouldn't have broke in the first place. LG still only suggests the water inlet thing -_- I don't i will ever have to change the water inlet thing (my opinion)

Thanks man, I pulled the dishwasher out and there was a small three-wire connector that was disconnected! Re-connected it and it worked!

fixed my LG dw this way: Empty dw of btm rack and filter parts. Dry floor of dw and sop up all water in filter hole in floor. rig shop vacuum to blow thru hose.Stick hose end in hole, tie it there if need be. Run vac for 20 minutes. ck for code cleared or remaining, repeat if necessary. I didn't have to. Joy!

Have you had the water supply shut off since the last time the dishwasher was used? My LG threw the IE code because there was an air lock in the supply line. Removed the hose from the dishwasher and cleared air lock...works fine now.

Thanks man, I disconnected the water valve from under the sink and reconnected it. Worked for me! The error did start after I turned off my main water line.

Nah my dishwasher is like 15 years old probably doesn't even have it. It's been 4 years and it's been working fine since this video. Thanks for sharing info on what else it could be.

i am having the exact same issue. dishwasher fills with water and then throws the error and then drains. I have checked everything including testing the motor and no luck

The inner filter in the water valve was dirty in my dishwasher, I cleaned, everything is good now, just take out the four screws in valve

This error is really pissing me off. I'm about to pull it out and check for this problem, but I don't think that's it. I can see water going into the plastic tank on the side, but it's barely trickling into the dishwasher. After a minute, it throws the error.

If you can't figure out how to open the door, you shouldn't be trying to connect electrical wires or trying to fix things. On top of that, everyone's dishwasher is different from mine, even if i posted how i opened mine, it might not be the same as yours. I posted this video for free to share information on how I fixed it. It's been almost 4-years haven't had a problem with it since.
