How to "Fix" Maya

Had this issue couple of times. Made myself a script to backup my prefs just in case something breaks. On Windows sometimes disconnecting one monitor helped to focus Maya windows on one the screen that was connected. But sometimes only deleting prefs worked. But now i got that scripted so i can use that to bring back the deleted prefs from a working backup ;)

HI, thanks for your tutorilas. I have this problem where maya freezes specifically when I use the wax tool in sculpting. Not sure whats up. Using maya 2020. My gpu is AMD RX570

I have Maya 2020 and it will NOT save anything to my Mac. Well, it will save it yes, but you open the file and its blank. Every time. I don't get it.

Export your model as an OBJ file and next time you open Maya, import it

@@isomaniac565 Sounds to me like a lack of system resources. What version of Maya are you using and with what system resources ?

What Maya version and how much RAM do you have ?

Mike Hermes i use maya 2020 and my Ram is 4GB

@@ilikeit213 There is your problem. 4GB is not enough. You need a minimum of 8GM but 16GB or more is better

@@ilikeit213 No, the absolute minimum to run Maya 2020 at ALL is 8GB. I am surprised you can even start Maya

Btw if my suggestion for fixing maya if rendering never works is a windows app that resets the application, its by microsoft ( i forgot the name its been 4 months since I've had to use it and my hard drive broke while moving so I can't go back to see what it was called other than know its purpose). Try that and if that doesn't work try resetting your %TEMP% files in windows. For mac use the microsoft software.

Fix: Switch to blender

Yup, it's is definitely a better move. It is so difficult to get Maya to work, the script editor is always full of warning and error messages, it's disgracefull that a paid software is so troublesome....blender might have a steep learning curve, but it has never crashed on me.
