Sometimes it actually says "game system". It is different for every router, you will need to refer to your router's manual. It will be in there. If you google your type of router all the manuals are in pdf, then just control F "dmz" or "game" and you should find it. I've done it on three different routers and I still needed the manual to find it under my new netgear router settings. Happy hunting.

That definitely gets rid of almost all of them, BUT it depends on the error you are getting. A lot of errors are not software related. Backup your saved stuff to a flash first then you can just load it back on after and lose nothing. I've done it . It takes like 12 hours sometimes and you have to leave it on uninterrupted the whole time.

You will have to delete something. He has maxed out his storage. You can delete some music, some old game saves he doesn't play anymore (just ask him which ones he doesn't play now) or back some saves up to a flash card for him and then you can delete them from the console without worry. PS3 saves can be moved to a usb flash drive easily. Most gamers concerns are about their online saves which you cannot delete anyway. Like I said you can always backup his game saves to a flash though.

You start holding the button when the system is off. If it doesnt beep twice it will turn on and turn back off after a few seconds. If it does, just release the button, and then hold it down again and it will do the double beep the second time around.

YES. DVD and BR are two different lens, also BR is 8 times the resolution of a DVD, so it's harder to read than a dvd basically. Which is why a lot of people can't play their games but can still listen to a cd or watch a dvd.

Use an airblower to blow into the hdmi port first, clean the hdmi plug with alcohol, if it still doesn't detect it, try another hdmi plug. If the issue is the software not the plug itself you would need to do #5 in the recovery "restore ps3 system" to fix the drivers. The restore file system fixes software bugs that are typically caused by crashes and forced power downs. The restore ps3 system is more like a factory reset and deletes saves so do that as a last resort and backup saves first!

On old routers you log into the router via your pc and set a proxy ip for the ps3, on your ps3 your do the same in your network ip settings. all items on your router have the same IP address but all end with an extra # that is designated by it's spot on the router. The router shuffles these around, sometimes kicking the ps3. If you set a specific ending # for the ps3 it will never be shuffled and have a consistent "open" sonnection and NAT will say open and all is awesome. New routrs r automatic

Hey sorry for the wait. There is something up with your system if it is taking that along. In the same recovery screen option #5 says restore ps3 system, if you do that one it is like a factory reset and will rebuild your operating software. I think you will need to . Save all games and stuff to a usb flash card FIRST and nothing will be lost. It takes like 12 hours to do it. The restore file system usually only takes 1 hour at the most.

That usually means it cannot verify the copyright for the game. If it is not a pirated copy, then it is a reading problem, the disc or bluray lens is likely dirty. I'd start by cleaning the disc even if it looks clean, try again, if it fails, consider cleaning the lens.

Usually sign out errors are because of your router. If you haven't yet, set your router's dns settings so that your ps3 has it's own subnet designated (OPEN NAT TYPE). If you haven't, your router will "shuffle" your ps3 on your network, and that hiccup causes the psn error. ....Maybe you did that already. If you did that already, you just need to power off your modem/router for a minute and turn them back on so they clear their cache.

It may. This is basically the first thing you would try with most problems, but your issue might continue. What do you mean deleted memory card? Do you mean the hard drive memory?

I would try to wait it out. If it takes forever and is stuck then you should save all your stuff to a flash drive and then try the restore ps3 system option in recovery (#5). That is basically a factory reset so again save your stuff first to a flash. It fixes almost anything on the system as far as software. Makes it like a new one again.

That's because you aren't going into standby first. Turn it on and hold the power until it turns itself off. Let go of power. Hold power again as the the system turns on do NOT let go, it will warm up and beep and turn off again. Let go of power. Hold it AGAIN and you will hear the beep.... beep beep! (double beep) let go and you will be in the recovery screen.

My understanding is that error is a corrupted database usually caused from powering off when the console freezes or unplugging it when it's frozen or saving. You will have to go into recovery and "rebuild database" that should fix it. If it doesnt you can try the restore ps3 system option #5 that is basically a factory reset and deletes saved campaign games if you don't back them up first. Hope it works. -Stevo

Yes, go into your router settings and set a subnet ip for your ps3 if you haven't yet, and do the same on the console's network settings. Then in your router settings go to max download and max upload speed and raise them to a ridiculous speed like 500mbs. The console is fast, it's the ip or your router settings holding it back. Or you have a dinosaur of a router and just need a more modern one like a netgear 300mb.

That sounds like it might be a bad hard drive, but you can try to do the #5 option in recovery just in case it is a software issue. It is like a factory reset, it will rebuild the operating system from scratch, like re-installing windows. If that doesn't work, that pretty much means the drive died and it needs to be replaced. That would require a game shop or sony because the new drive needs the OS on it.

That error code just means that the download failed, it does not indicate WHY, but most of the time it is your router that is the problem. . Just turn your router and modem off and wait , turn them back on and try again. If it still fails go into your router settings and set a subnet ip address to the ps3 (usually listed under 'dmz' settings) and set the same subnet in the xm menu under network settings on the ps3.

You are in a unique situation that I haven't come across yet. It isn't recognizing your hard drive or something, and you can't get to the recovery screen (which you need your hard drive to get into anyway). It may be fried. If you look at the front of the PS3 there is a trap door below the slot where you put discs in. That is to access the hard disc/ open it. Take it out, put it back in and turn it on. If it doesn't recognize it still I'd assume the drive is dead. let me know.

This is kind of a general 1st step but if it doesnt work you can back up everything to a flash and do the #5 option restore ps3 system. Thats a factory reset so it will be like a new console after. It takes hours and you need to backup your saves to a flash FIRST so as not to lose any data.

That is it going into standby mode first, which you need to do. Keep holding after the single beep and it will power off. Then let go and hold it again until it beeps twice or turns off on it's own. After no more than 3 times it will double beep.

That one means you cannot connect to the network and 99% of the time it is because of your router's DNS settings./ This mostly happens on old routers. Try unplugging the router for 5 minutes with the PS3 power off. Turn on the router and wait 1 minute and then turn on the PS3. If it still gives you the error you will need to adjust your router's DNS settings and set a subnet mask for the console which is tech talk for designating it's own slot on the router's network.

That's a little unusual but it happens. The longest I have heard before is about an hour. Try to wait it out., If an hour or more goes by and it seems to be frozen hold the power until it turns off and try again, but do not unplug it. Try to wait. This is a little like a defrag on a pc so if you haven't done it before or often it will take a little longer.

That just means the download failed, usually an update. It doesn't indicate WHY, kind of like 800233ef = failed update. But, it is usually because your internet is spotty or your router is shuffling your ps3 around on your router's network (like if someone in the house turns on their data phone onto the wifi, it can move your ps3 from router subnet slot 3 to slot 4) That shuffle mid update makes it FAIL. You need to set a subnet ip if you haven't yet in the routers dns/game settings.

None of that is affected. It's all on the PSN and is linked to your account. Doing the #5 option WILL delete all saved data (that's the restore ps3 system option). But even if you do the #5 and start all over you just log into your online store and re-download your purchases for free. Your account will have record that you paid for it and they do not charge you to re-download games you paid for as long as you have the exact same psn login. Cheers.

No you can only create the very last # in the sequence, you cannot change your ip itself. You can see your ip if you go into the ps3 menu under network settings it shows the IP address. You may want to ask a friend for help if you are unfamiliar with setting up networks.

Yes! It's the peg blocking you from putting in the disc (did u open it with a disc in?) There are two white levers to the right when it's open, you have to move them all the way up (I think the lower rt one) and all the way down while gently pressing the peg and it will drop, do not force it.

You should. The only ones that I've came across that have failed are the knock off wireless ones. As long as you can plug it in and it is recognized via usb you should be good.

OK. The error is on the psn store end though, it's not your internet router or your console. All you can do about store problems is logout and turn the console off, wait, log back in and try again. If it fails again that means it is the store itself (probably maintenance as usual) and you may have to wait a day for them to fix whatever they are doing.

It happens sometimes. You need to get it into "standby mode". turn it on. Wait until main screen. Hold power until it's off and the red light comes on. Hold the power again, green light comes on, you may hear up to four single beeps and it will power off again. Let go of button. Hold button again until the double beep and let go.

You must wait it out. The longest I have ever heard for this is about 8 hours but that is not normal. You can't shut it off midway, you may cause serious file damages if you try to stop it. I would leave it on and come back in a couple hours and see if it is frozen or what. But very important, try to wait it out.

I guess I will need to make you guys a video to show you how to fix the sign out errors. I can tell you the way to fix it is to reserve a subnet ip slot on your router. If your router is not set up that way it will naturally shuffle your ps3 and all your other wifi around the way it sees fit, as far as what takes priority. That "shuffle" is what is getting you disconnected from the psn. If you set up your ps3 on your router with it's own SUBNET ip it will stop shuffling and stay connected to psn

Sorry for the wait. You need to do it over and over until it goes into safe mode. Hold and listen for the 1 beep let go. Hold it again and wait it will beep and turn off again. Do it a THIRD time and it will beep twice then let go immediately and vaola you are in safe mode. Cheers

I would clean the lens again, the noises are it failing to find the start of the disc, that's why it re-drops the disc and starts over. If it's more than one disc it's the lens. Clean the lens more. Let me knw if it still fails. -Stevo

Rest the router and modem, log out, turn on modem, wait, then router, wait, then ps3 and log in and try to go back to the store. I would recommend you set the ps3 it's own subnet ip slot on your router if you haven't, most of the time it is your routers fault for shuffling the subnet causes a freeze on psn (aka router hickup). Set a subnet ip on your router for the ps3 and it shouldn't happen anymore., search open nat type ps3 if you don't know how.

Sorry for the wait. You know it is not the hdmi cable itself. It sounds like a software goof. I think you should do #5 in recovery restore ps3 system, that fixes all the operating software along with other issues, but if the hdmi nonsense is a software error or a corrupted driver etc, that would fix it. Try that if you can, heads up it takes all day to re-format, so be prepared for a long wait. It took me 9 hours the first time I did it.

Obviously it should be doing that. What led you to trying this, what error did you get? It may be corrupted software, and you may end up needing to do the #5 option in recovery if this doesn't work and you still have problems. #5 (restore ps3 system) is like a factory reset, so it WILL delete any saved data (not online stuff like cod or trophies) but it will make it like a new out of box console, no longer corrupted.

You'd have to look at the manual for your router or find it in the settings. If you go to your settings it is usually under dsn or it'll flat out say games, then you'll see a box to put the proxy ip into, and you just enter your ip the way it is, but for the last number make it something big like 9, so your ip is like 128.160.000.9 for example. And then on the ps3 you manually make the ip the same as the one you created ending in 9. Then it will give you OPEN nat.

Get a Netgear. They are like $50 at Walmart. Every router has different dmz screens, but I think you get the general idea. FIRST, bypass the router and plug straight into your modem and see if there is any difference. It may just be your IP sucks. SECOND, go into the router dmz and give your ps3 it's own subnet ip and do the same on the ps3 network settings screen. THIRD (this will help a lot) set your max upload speed to something outrageous like 50gb on the router. Let me know how it goes

If you were able to get out the only other thing you can do is the restore ps3 system #5 option in the recovery screen. That takes a looooong time though, like 10 hours, so not the greatest new I could give you, but it's like a factory reset, it should make it like a new one again.

It sounds like a disc reading issue. I would start by cleaning the disc. If it does the same thing try it in another ps3 if you can, if it WORKS in another system that means your lens is dirty (watch my other video). If it doesn't work in the other system that means it is probably the disc.

Yeah that's what I figured. The time out has nothing to do with your internet connection, it's the psn server, not your router, and it's random.

You just kog in with the same user name as before and go to ps store and when you are in ps store menu the bottom item on the left says "my downloads" click that and it will list all the dl's you have purchased and they are free to re-download.

If that is only black ops it might be the disc. I would clean the disc up or try another copy and see if there is any difference. If it still doesnt work or another copy doesnt work also, I would clean the bluray lens inside the console (see my other video for that)

That's a little weird. BTW when a game freezes hit the eject button and wait. 99% of the time it will eject and then reset the ps3 all on it's own. You don't want to force it to power off when frozen unless you absolutely have to. Try again to get to the recovery screen. Hold power and turn it on and keep holding power, do not let go, it should turn back off. Release and repeat. Then the hold it down again and it should go "beep........ beep beep" and then let go. Try that and let me know.

Then you need to clean the lens, if it is not the disc it is the bluray lens itself. Watch my other video and clean the lens and all your games should work immediately. It's because your lens has gotten a little dirty over time. It will work like new if you clean the lens, trust me.

Ip error, probably your router settings. It's not your PS3 on that one ever, it is always the router. I would double check the settings, if they are on automatic then just unplug your router for a minute and plug it back in and it should be good again.

Yeah, that's what I did after it failed to restore the file system. It kept freezing at the same percentage, so I knew there was data corruption somewhere. I wiped everything... fortunately, my online ranking and leaderboard stuff was saved. Individual game saves for Gran Turismo 5 and GTA were wiped though. I couldn't save/transfer them, because I couldn't access them. I don't have PSN Plus Cloud access either...

Failed install (it should say that with the code on the screen) usually random, corrupted file. Just delete the folder and re-download it.

Try saving the file to a flash usb and install it from that instead of downloading from the ps3 console you can try downloading from a pc to a flash and install from that. See if there is any difference

That error means "game will not install cause unknown" literally, so there is no way to really know WHY. It is only on downloaded games, so it seems to me it is a bad download or a corrupt file etc, not your fault or your console. All you can do is request a refund or re-download. It's a fluke. Again, nothing you can do on your end to fix that other than get a new copy because it is a problem with the file or the PSN.

That's a failed install for a downloaded game because the file is corrupted. Try this restore, delete the downloaded file, and then re-download it. If it still fails it is likely the psn not your console and you'll want to contact the PSN store for a fix or a refund.

No this is not the answer for that error, but if you control-f and type in that error you'll see the answer is already in the comments over and over... You need to set a subnet ip for your ps3 so your system doesn't get shuffled on your router while running a download, that is why you are having failed dl's, party disconnections, randomly lost connections to host, etc. Get into your router settings and set it's own subnet. It's the old way to open nat type btw.

I couldn't find any absolute info on that error, but the ps3 forum says it is a bad disc. I don't know how right that is. When you got the error did it give you a description? When do you get it? That's weird. Unplug the system, plug in the hdmi to the system only, then plug the power back in, turn the tv on, then plug it into the tv. It should register, and the ps3 should show up again, then do the restore again. Tell me if it still says no hdmi.

It freezes in safe mode? You are going to have to do the restore ps3 system, and you will need to save all your stuff to usb flash drives first. Restore ps3 system is #5 in recovery and it is basically a factory reset. It rebuilds all software and drivers, it fixes all software BS. It all deletes all your saves (not online, just on console) and music etc. Also it can take 18 hours to finish sometimes, you have to make sure NO ONE turns it off during the process. It's a pain but it should work.

No it isn't. I would consider doing the fifth option restore ps3 system, (factory reset) it will make it like new out of box, so back up all your saves to a flash usb first. It could take all day, but when it is done, the software will be like a new out of box ps3. It'll fix all the crap and slowness.

Keep holding it down until it powers itself off, then let go, then hold power again while it turns itself on and keep holding until it's off again. The THIRD time it will do it. Basically rinse and repeat lol

Nah it is just the resolution settings. You will need to plug it into a hdmi tv to see that screen again. But after you do you can plug it back into the one from before. I guarantee there is NOT anything wrong with your motherboard.

I found nothing on that error code. When it is failed downloads it is usually the router that is the culprit. First just turn off the modem and router and reload them and try again. If it still fails go into your router settings and set a subnet ip for your ps3 (old way to open nat type up). Then go into the ps3 xmb screen and do the same subnet ip for your network settings. It will keep your router from "shuffling" the ps3 on the network, that is what causes the fails.

Watch my video on how to fix 80010514, that'll fix it. You need to get in and clean the lens. The freezing is caused by misreading the disc (unless you are talking about a downloaded game that has no disc). Clean the lens and you should have no reading problems anymore, no more freezing or failed loads.

800233ef = failed to download update. Probably your router settings. Have you setup your ps3 with it's own subnet ip? Go into router settings and go to dmz game settings and reserve a subnet ip address for the ps3, then go into the ps3 internet settings and setup the exact same subnet ip address and YOU WILL NEVER get kicked or have a bad updating experience unless your internet provider is total garbage. You can reset your router right now by unplugging it that helps on the short term.

I don't think so because the operating system won't be on the drive you add unless it's a ps3 hard drive. I would probably just send it out for repair to sony at that point. IDK tough to say. There are a lot of ps3 hard drives on the web for sale so maybe you can diy it cheaper than that.
