Thanks for the kind words man, I appreciate that and glad to help!

I had to do the exact same thing with my rack. I had no room for the steering under the motor mounts. Love seeing it all come together.
@intheshoptv9 ай бұрын
Are you building the same/similar vehicle? Yeah, Its all because I wanted the LS set as low as possible since the truck is drastically lowered and I wanted that low center of gravity. Had I set the LS an inch or so higher, the rack probably would have been fine as is lol.

Not saying it was bad before, but your camera work is noticeably better. Video looks great!

I’m certainly trying! So much to learn.

I am not questioning yor work it is way better than i could ever do But what if you had brought the lower leg of the motor mount t out closer to the frame would that have given you more room for the steering shaft and still been strong enough ?
@intheshoptv9 ай бұрын
It would have given me more clearance for the steering shaft for sure. However I would have started to get a little bit of a horizontal placement of the motor mounts which I feel really looses much of its support/strength. If I were to do it over… the BEST way would be for me to have fabricated my own motor mounts 👍. Great question and thanks for watching!
@N8z149 ай бұрын
Hmm I'll have to watch for this. You did a 6 inch drop right? I'm doing a 4 inch drop. Hopfully leave me a little more room for the drive shaft allowing me to mount the motor just a bit higher
@intheshoptv9 ай бұрын
To be honest, the r&p and mount would have worked out just fine as it was. My problem is that I mounted the LS really low. I wanted that low center of gravity for good handling since the truck is drastically lowered. If I would have mounted the LS an inch or so higher, I would never had to make this repair

When I’m mocking something up I tack it first l, make sure it’s going to work the way I want it to, then weld it fully. Not being critical, just offering a suggestion.
@intheshoptv9 ай бұрын
Thats the thing… I usually do exactly that! I tacked the entire front suspension, rear suspension, and back half of the frame together first. I ALWAYS tack first. The ONE time I get cocky and dont… BAM! Lol. Ironically, that’s exactly how I ended up getting it set up perfectly at the end. I admit my fault at the end of the video and I think thats the most important part… learning from my own mistakes, and when its on film - hopefully it helps someone else not make the same mistake.

It was waiting for you 🤣. Keep up with the content. You are motivating me to get off my butt and work on my 55.

@@brianmartin1825 Thanks, I needed motivation in the past too - every other car Ive built took forever. But when you start a KZbin, it gives you no choice but to work on it constantly lol

You fixed this, but I think the problem was that you mounted the engine too low to the frame when you made your custom motor mounts. Oh well, live and learn.
@intheshoptv6 ай бұрын
That was intentional. Need to mount it as low as possible as the trucks ride height will be very low. I needed the lowest center of gravity for handling and also the driveshaft and especially the 6L80 needed the clearance. As it sits currently, the 6L80 has just 0.5” clearance.
@David-rx5eo6 ай бұрын
@@intheshoptv OK, that makes sense, and why you had to do more customization.

Mounts look solid. Room to drop the pan on an LS is a big deal especially because of the oil pick up tube. Nice job
@intheshoptv9 ай бұрын
EXACTLY!! I suppose I could always just pull the two bolts that hold the rack and drop it if I ever have to pull the pan but… its just the principle - shouldn’t HAVE to do that.
