I just recently had the same issues... My service provider, TracFone told me to get a new sim card. Very annoying having to go through all those steps to get it working for a short period and then the phone not recognizing the SIM card.

Just a temporary fix for me. My SIM card was NOT reading properly.... after so many restarts and removing the Sim tray, I discovered that my card was worn and damaged. It needed to be replaced with a new one. This is because the sim tray was removed too many times to access the microSD card and SIM card being changed when traveling. I could see a lot of scratches on the surface. This caused my phone not to recognize or read the SIM card properly. After replacing the SIM card, phone has been working great.👍

FWIW - I have been having an issue where signal drops out for seemingly no reason. The SIM *IS* detected but I cant make calls etc. Works ok in another phone and signal is good in the same location. It would seem the issue is the conneciton between SIM and the SIM tray/ contacts. As a temporary fix I have bent the SIM tray very slightly so that there is downward pressure between the SIM tray and hte SIM slot inside the phone. Results are middling, but if you're in a pinch this may help.

Good Gravy, dude! You saved my phone! You don't know how many chat sessions I went through with my new provider on their website and on Reddit, and got no where. My Moto G Power wasn't reading the new sim card they sent me, and nothing we tried worked. I searched in what I thought was futility on the internet and came upon your video, so I thought I might as well try it. And BINGO! I restarted my phone and my new carrier's signal came through! Your knowledge Yendry is very impressive. Unfortunately the general strategy requires that the SIM card is removed/inserted while the phone is ON. This is not possible with the MOTO G5 as the battery has to be removed to either remove or insert the SIM. Do you have any suggestions?

Have the Moto E wiith Tracfone on Verizon. I did the work around and it did not work. Verizon stated that I was supposed to be cut off In May of this year due to the pandemic ended and I was on extended Medicaid & didn't qualify. So guys I'm assuming that when your phone breaks that's the end of your free phone. I would be curious if a total new SIM card from another carrier with the same connectability would work.
