Noise cancellation is worse because apparently copyright infringement. The algorithm they use to cancel the sound is very similar to what another company uses so they had to build theirs from the ground up. It's currently TERRIBLE and I hope they fix it. My Earfun Pro 2's have 1/3rd the price and 3x better cancelation. The airpods do sound better but I very much prefer better cancealltion.

The last one you said is definitely the case. When I got my airpods last year in the summer the anc was amazing, then some months later it just got worse, and now it’s still the same. I might be imagining it but I used to not hear anyone speaking to me without any music in and now I can hear them with music on. I don’t know but it’s been bugging me for so long.

Firmware 6B34 seems to have nerfed ANC. It's really bad, almost sounds the same as transparency.

My problem is that the ANC becomes to work unequally after some time of playing either some music or a podcast (or even during Teams calls). It does not happen every time I use them, but is really common. It mainly concerns the right ear pod , however sometimes happens to the left one as well. It is not about the ear fit nor about the outdated soft. I bought the AirPods two weeks ago and the issue occured from the very beginning. Do you guys have any idea what might be the reason of such state? I checked everything and I think now I'm supposed to contact the support and eventually apply for a replacement.

I have the Sennheiser MTW4,Sony XM5, Airpods Pro 2. What i found is that the Airpods doesn't really cancel high frequency sound like voices etc, i can still hear it while watching videos on KZbin. The Sennheiser and Sony are cancel even the high frequency noise so i'm not interrupted by the external sound while watching videos. One way to at least improve the ANC and also Bass is to use Comply foam tips it really make quite a difference.

Many people’s AirPods’ transparency and noise cancellation just stop working after having it for a long time. This is probably due to the microphone quality declining or because the microphone is clogged

go to setting go to airpod and scroll to where it says noice cancellation on one airpod. if both phone and airpods are fully updated and you have no issues with noise control functions, it should work

@@BILLY_XO with a micro fiber towel and honestly just my thumb. I also let them sit out of the case for a while. I wear mine at work and sweat like a dog doing hard labor in high heat. I let them sit out of the case and basically air dry over night. (I know disgusting). But it worked for me personally. But I also just did the newest Apple update too. Part of me thinks the issue is from water damage destroying the mesh. Hope it works for you fam.

From what I have personally dealt with… the black speaker mesh on the outside gets all funky/clogged and needs a proper cleaning and gets the mics that cancel the outside noise to work again. I’ve used mine since they came out DAYLY and personally didn’t realize the noise canceling wasn’t as good as it was until I tried a new pair I bought as a gift for someone. For me it made a PHAT difference.

When I put on noise cancelling it works perfectly but it will randomly stop being as effective as its is supposed to be. if I turn it to transparent then back to noise cancelling mode it resets them and they work again, I’m not sure why it happens.

Do you have Background Sounds on? It’s able to be turned off and on in the Audio Accessibility Settings. There’s 6 different sound options but 3 are varying "static" sounds (dark, bright, & balanced noise), and the other 3 are ocean, rain, and stream.

When I had that issue, I just took my AirPods into an Apple Store. They tested them in the store and then replaced my AirPods and gave me a pack of new tips, all free.

I just cleaned my AirPods and the result is like night and day. Before cleaning, ANC and transparency sounded the exact same. I don’t know what specifically did it, but I followed a cleaning video and cleaned everything. Now it’s exactly like it was when I bought them over a year ago.

For anyone experiencing issues with Noise Cancellation there’s usually 2 things that could be affecting this: Hardware, or Dirty Airpods For dirty airpods I do not recommend using a Q-Tip. Use a new Toothbrush or any kind of brush similar to a toothbrush apply alcohol to the mesh-part of the Airpods and then rub the microphone parts gently with the brush to remove the debris from blocking the air flow which will improve the noise cancellation along with the microphone quality dramatically

ANC on these is non existent. I never should’ve given away my 1st gen Pro’s, the noise cancellation on those was excellent. I’ve taken all the steps to try to fix them, have called Apple and they can’t/won’t fix them. I’ll be returning and finding something else.
