Thank you for continuing to produce the best real estate photography content. Can you perhaps consider a video on special ceiling situations? Here in south GA we have a lot of homes with tray or coffered ceilings, that create all sorts of shadows, usually very different between flash and ambient. Would it be better to use a flash modifier rather than trying to bounce? Things like that. Thanks again!

Thank you! Great tip and will try this out soon. Have 3 vacation homes to do as soon as I can. Ceiling fans are popular in my world and I often get harsh shadows and sometimes a color cast. I have 2 of your books thus far. Very grateful!

I could not seem to get rid of these types shadows no matter what I did when I started with flambient and so I stopped and went back to 5-bracket HDR because I didn’t want to deal with them. I was selecting the object, usually a fan, and cloning around them to get rid of it and didn’t want to do the extra work. This is a great tutorial that helps me see two things: 1) how to prevent this on location as much as possible and 2) how to fix it if it still occurs. Great tutorial! 👍🏻

Nathan, You do great work. I just bought all of your books on amazon kindle. I've only been supplying Matterport to Commercial type companies, but now I'm armed with a Canon EOS RP and a Tokina Opera 16-28 F/2.8. I'll definitely be getting a Camranger 2 for the secondary dual slot and figure out some lighting setups. I'm based down in San Diego so I have no idea what sort of lighting equipment I'll need for indoor flambient and exterior light painting. I may also just get the upcoming Canon RF 15-30 F/4.5-6.3 Just to put a polarizer on it. Anyway, Cheers.

I run into this issue from time to time. Thank you for the refresher course! On a side note, I do not believe I have seen any of your videos, or anything in your books about the specs for the computers you are currently using. My system is starting to show its age and I am very close to pulling the trigger on a new one. Lately, I have been batch resizing my standard real estate pictures down to 2500x2500pix - saving as PSD files (on the drive home). It does a nice job of reducing the transfer times between lightroom and photoshop. Ideally, I'd like my system to process full-size files just as quickly. I realize everyone should just get the best they can afford to run lightroom + photoshop. I am just curious to know what you are running and if it is off-the-shelf or a custom build. Thanks again.

You're very welcome! If your system is starting to show age like you said, then it's definitely time to upgrade. Sounds like a great subject for an upcoming tutorial for sure.

Hi Nathan!! Thank you for all the amazing videos. Like many others I owe pretty much everything I know to you!! I have only one question. Would you recommend using a flash diffuser for the AD200 to get a softer light?
@NathanCoolPhoto
@NathanCoolPhoto Жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. There is no need for further diffusion if you're bouncing or using a STU correctly, but there are other cases that differ. These are some of the things I cover in my lighting guide, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3s1iBPy

Using the light stand that you have recommended in some of your videos, what adaptor must I order to attach the AD200 to that light stand? Thanks!

Hey, Thanks for another great video. Just wondering if you can explain the best way of cleaning up an image making it neutral when NOT using flash. I do a lot of interiors for my wife who is a decorator and I do not use flash at all. I usually use continuous led lights if needed and some type of HDR stacking in extreme cases. DO you know of a good tutorial for something like your luminosity layer but when ambient light is uses mix with the natural lights that are in the room that produce different color cast on ceilings etc etc.. Thank you!

Thank you Nathan! How do you feel about using umbrellas for very soft diffusion to help with the shadow casts? I really do not like fans, that darn shadow drives me bonkers. I use umbrella in very dark rooms where the ceiling is dark and walls. But I have been starting to use it in about every situation lately. I get less shadows for sure, but it is kind of a pain. I only use it for big rooms though, not small bedrooms and bathrooms. But would be interested in your thoughts about this.
