I use to do the paper clip trick too ( that hole is designed to help if it ever gets stuck) but I wanted to fix my Xbox so this repair helps!

You can also try taking the old band, and boil it on the stove for 15-30 mins, that will shrink it slightly. I fixed mine like this after buying the wrong size replacements. If it doesn't work the first time just boil again for longer, took me 2 attempts.

@@AdamUPN0w Good question, I've no idea lol I imagine the more you boil it, the smaller it would get and therefore last longer? It felt just as sturdy when I put it in if not stronger when I took it out.....First time I've ever owned an OG Xbox or tried this, saw it in a vid by OddTinkering on YT. He's worth a subscribe if you haven't already :-)

you dont need to pull your xbox apart , FFS get the drawer half open till you see the belt , loop belt over tweezers till belt comes off pulley , remove old belt with tweezers and do the same to put new belt on , simple !

Called a Torx drive not security bit in Australia

Regular torx has a solid shaft, the security bits are torx with a hole in the center of the shaft for a pin which is unnecessary here.

I fixed the tray but then hubby got the “red ring of death”. Is that it for the machine I or are there any fixes for that?

Most likely. If it doesn't work it could be the gears or motors. The rubber is the cheapest thing to buy and test.

If this is your Xbox do you think you can make another video on this problem I have. Or if I can send mine you can fix and make a video. But the disc drive. Right next to the wheels with the rubber bands on it. To the left there is a gear that is aligned with the slots to help the tray eject. Mine is messed up and I can not find away to get to without having to break the tray. Please this would help so much. The 4:00 marker in this video. You push the white slide and just “pull the tray out” well mine doesn’t pull out, it doesn’t move actually because of this messed up gear. There’s no video online anywhere with this oroblem

@@AdamUPN0w yes. If there is some way I can send you a video if you’d like to check it out. I do the paper clip. Well when it’s open I push the white tab back, and it pops out about a quarter inch, but then it doesn’t smoothly pull out or “eject” Thank you for replying btw man fr

I don't have the Xbox right now. It sound like your gears are not moving smoothly. Try cleaning it out and possibly look for replacement gears. There is some Xbox that require it to be opened up. If you can do it without opening it the better.
