I needed to fix this issue because my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 2.4L (Strawberry) eventually stopped turning over because the EGR valve was clogged. You have two choices: either you replace it, or you clean it our. In this case I did both but I decided to just replace it because I was in a hurry to get to the car meet.

Every vital part seems to be out of reach. =Þ So cool you can fit in the bay. Sure would've saved me some back aches. My '99 Eclipse has been having a similar issue. Thanks for covering it. I thought it would've been way more complex.

Ricky Rivera No I literally teach myself =\ this one I couldn’t even find a good video that would show the location of the EGR I had to find a diagram that showered me what it looked like and then I found it behind there. No one knows about cars but me 😂🙊 I’ve just messaged with so many of my cars that I know a lot now. I’m going to school for an associate in automotive technology so I am learning even more now but this video was before I started school.

Had to replace the intake manifold that was cracked right behind the throttle body. Got everything back on, except the 2 hoses that come out the top of the EGR. Can't remember where those connect to. Wish you would have added that part in the video. Hope my brother didnt lose the hoses. Could you please help and tell me where they connect to, or even make a quick vid showing where? Thanks!

Got it figured out!! He did misplace 1 hose. The one closest to the firewall that connects the EGR valve to the throttle body, and had the one coming from down low that connects to the other one on the EGR in a wrong spot, lol. His gf's car runs like a champ now!! Super stoked! Heads up, watch out for the flange that the throttle body connects to cracking in that gap. That's what happened to her car, and why we had to replace the manifold. Thanks anyway!! Your videos helped us figure out the hose issue :D.

Hey how are you? Currently working on a 2.4 eclipse egr valve, the valve has one vaccum line on top and two lines on the bottom my question is if one of the bottom lines had coolant running thru it?

did you clear the code? if so check O2 sensor live data reading as well.A vaccum leak from the header, throttle and other gaskets etc also causes this code most of the time. Cats should be the last thing to replace if all fails.a laser temp reader gun can determine if cats are working.

Honestly I didn't encounter that. That could also be motor mounts I mean a vibration at idle could be a bunch of things, but I mean it isn't releasing the exhaust gases and recirculating them correctly so you could be right =)

Usually with EGRs There are codes that will appear it could also be the EGR vacuum solenoid P0403 the link to that video is in the description.

Hey also what will help keep you egr clean is do a pvc delete and use just a oil filter breather it gives you a cleaner intake

any car made before 1990 is usually large enough to fit in the engine bay to some extent, depending on a lot. But the older the car the more likely it's not jammed with extra garbage and you can work on it by climbing down inside. 70's cars.... might as well take a nap in there buddy there's plenty of room to work.
