Great video that explains everything well. A small tip for SMD. Wick off the solder from both pads, then just put solder on one pad. This makes it easy to put the SMD flat against the board by heating just one pad. The 2nd soldering is easy as the SMD is already in place.

Outstanding video! I am having almost the exact same issues. TV turns on, screen flickers 3 times (I can see the LED lights flickering in the back), then I get a blank screen with a slowly blinking red LED. I have tested my board as you did. ALL test points maintain voltage when it goes from power on to blinking light. However, pins 1 and 20 go from 16V and 24V respectively down to 0 when the light starts to blink. So, do I have a bad LED driver board or a bad main board? How can I test them? Thanks and keep up the great work!

There are 3 test points on the main board, 5.3V, 12V, and 15V. The 5.3V maintains voltage when the LED blinks, the other two do not, they go to 0. Would that indicate that this board is bad?

If you see the picture few seconds and then the screen goes black, most probably the one or more LED's are damaged in back light. Just de-assemble the screen carefully and check all individual LEDs. See my other video for some details > kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHS5hWxjgdmmatE Note that if any of LED is not lighting up, your multimeter voltage is not enough for testing LEDs. You can use a small power 12v supply with a series 330ohms resistor. Let me know how it goes.. cheers...

Hi, thanks for the great video. I think I have a similar problem but havent opened up the back yet. My viera tv will power up and work as normal for maybe an hour or two then power off and show the red blinking led. If I turn it back on the tv will work again but for a shorter period, like a a half hour and get shorter each time it powers off. Leaving it unplugged overnight will make it run for a couple hours again but same probelm persists. Does it sound like a power board issue? Thanks

My model TH55DS61OU does the same with red led and back light tries to come on 3x. but then just red blink. All voltages are normal both on the AP board test points and at the output connector. The 2.5v switch on voltage signal comes on then off. I have changed main AP board and LED driver board. Could the Main board be faulty or is it the LED display itself? Great Video, your diagnostic process is very good. I am trying to diagnose a very similar issue with TH-50DS610U. Problem is on start up the LED panel blinks 3 times then the standby LED starts to blink as per your video. I followed the same procedure until checking the LED voltage at the connector. I get something while it blinks. Could it be the LED Driver circuit or even the LED's I cannot find the exact service manual, but have one VERY similar. Checked all the voltages at the SRV Test Points and seem OK until it goes into protection mode. Any Clues? Thanks again.

If you see LED backlight (as you said LED Panel) blinks few times and then go to led blink state, most probably the issue is in LED backlight. Just open the LED backlights and do a test for individual LEDs. If you open the panel and turn on the tv, you can see which individual LED strips are damaged. Great Video👍Thank you. I have a Panasonic TH-L55DT50A, problem seems to be when I turn it off at night it’s really hard to get the TV to turn on again. When I try to turn it on The Logo will come on then it would go off then when I try to turn on the red light will blink 3 times or 4 it’s so quick bit hard to count. If I try turning off at the power and keep trying suddenly it will turn on and until I switch off it will work great and will not auto shutdown. @Niroshan, 1st of all do a memory cleanup to fix any software issues. For that follow this steps. 1. remove the power cord from main power switch. 2. Then press and hold power switch in the TV's backside for around 20 seconds. Release the power button after 20 seconds. 3. Re connect the main power cable and power on the tv. If the above reset does not fix the issue, we can assume that the issue in the power supply or main board or backlight. May be this is due to a loose connection in a component in the power supply. Check all the high power components connections in the power board (dry soldering). Specially check high power resistors, Thermistors,rectifiers and transistors. When trying to turn on few times these type of loose connection will spark and make temporally connection until turn off the tv and cool down the component. That is why you can't turn on it again easily. sometimes this is due to bad ICs ,Caps, or resistors in the power board which is difficult to find. In this case it is better to replace the power board. There are some rare cases which relevant to LED backlight. Some bad LEDs will trigger randomly and turn on, but sometimes disconnected(does not turn on). In this case you will need to replace LED backlight.

It will display the Logo and restart. I am suspecting it might be the power or main board but tried to look online for replacement and they are over $200 each for refurbished and cannot get new parts as the TV is 2012 Model. @Jeff, If you short the capacitor while it is on power, Most probably the fuse is blown or/and the bridge rectifier is damaged or a thermistor is damaged. all these are connected to the capacitor in series(from main power connector to smoothing capacitor). Just check them and replace first.

@@kingtechtv5386 First of remember that this is a very rare scenario. Did you find that it is the same fault in your tv? i mean the same capacitor is short circuit? if yes, just remove the capacitor and turn on the tv. it should work. then you can use a capacitor like 0.1 to 1Uf.

Having problem with Panasonic TX-42AS520B Red Standby light continues flashing like 2 seconds gap. Had this issue first time like 2 weeks ago when it was not responding to remote and then tried from the power button on TV and first few times it did not worked. It tried to turn on green light flashing then green steady light and then red flashing light again but after few tries it did came on and was working fine untill now it happened again doing same thing. If I press power button on TV it does cone on, sounds is there screen flashing white colour 3 times with 1 or 2 sec gap and after 3rd flash it cutts off continues red flashing light. I have done all the basic like turning off from mains from mintues to hours even over night but still the same. I dont understand why it would start with flashing light when powers been off and when you turn on it should be standby atleast then but no so something its reading faulty even after restarting without trying to turn on. I am very technical minded and gets my hands on anything and not scared of opening and fixing anything and did few TVs as well in the past. Just needs right direction. Is it the power board I am looking or main board. I will be happy if I can fix the current ones if not changing board should fix it. I have got VOLT Meter if it needs checking voltages and Soldering Iron as well some where. Sorry for long message I like writing in details. Any help will be highly appropriated.

Its doing same as your video. No response from remote. You can turn off then on from power button on TV and green light will start blinking then goes steady you can hear sound no picture and then it will cut off after few seconds red flashing light again after every 2 sec. I can explain things in more detail as I already ordered Power board and Main AV board from an ebay seller who is selling over 20000 TV recycled parts from broken screen TVs as they advised symtoms are most likely Main AV board but can be power board as well so I ordered both. Unfortunately changing boards did not make any difference and its still doing exactly same which means its not them boards. I have been experimenting isolating T con board and Invertor board but still the same. Should TV stay on without Invertor Board connected ❔ Should TV stay on without T Con board connected ❔ If answer is yes to both above questions then we have problem in Power Board side. Is it LED Backlit causing problem❔ Thats what I am been told now from ebay seller who I bought both boards. But if TV should stat on without Invertor board connected then LED Backlit cant cause issue as its disconnected. Just watched your whole video again. In your case it was fault at Power Board. As I already changed board I will be surprised if this board is faulty as well but you never know. An other thing I noticed that LED lights used to flash for a sec when TV stayed on. It use to flash 3 times like 1 or 2 sec gap and after 3rd flash TV use to cut off with red flashing light. Its not doing it any more. Led light not coming on. May be thay helps. Lol Also surprised to know it should be around 40V for LED Driver while on circuit board it does not say that. Do you mind adding me on your whatsapp? Is it LED Backlit causing problem❔ We can think that this is a backlight driver or backlight LED's issue. But if that the issue, when you hear the sound you should see very dark images inside the black screen is you closely look at the screen with using mobile phone's flash light(See my other video to understand how to do that). Most of the tvs will not turn off due to back light issue and the tv will run with sounds, also you should see very dark images if you closely look at the screen. if you see images, this is a led driver board or LED back lights fault. But im thinking about the remote not responding issue and randomly allow you to turn it on using power button. it is a sign of main board fault(or this may be a IR sensor board issue). What happens if you replace only the main board? still not responding for remote? first do a test for remote to confirm whether it works. you can use your mobile phone camera to test the remote. just look at the front IR LED in the remote through the camera to see any IR signals in the camera view when you press the remote's power button. let me know how it goes.. cheers.

The reason originally I said no point uploading video was because after putting in new boards them LED back lights stopped flashing and I thought they gone dead but after putting in original boards back lights started flashing again so I done video. There was no image on screen when using original board and checked with mobile light? From remote TV only responds to Volume up and down button when red standby light flashing but it thats only red ight flashing fast nothing else. When TV is on for few seconds and I can hear sound I was able to change channel and volume up and down from remote so I guess its working ok once TV is on. No image in the dark which way its pointing ? I am sure with your help I will be able to fix it. If its not LED backlite it will be easy as its will be just matter of changing boards. Does replacement has to be from same model or as long as Part number is same it does not make difference? Waiting for your kind reply.

My panasonic LCD 32 inch L32C33D..when i turn on the tv sometimes it works for few seconds, 30 minutes, 1 hour etc.. But it shutdown itself and the red led light blinks continuesly.. until i turn off the tv.. while using it with Tata sky set top box or Free to air set top box through HDMI......... .... but while connected to usb, it doesn't shut down even if I watch for hours. ... @Zuchamo, These type of issues are difficult to figure out. This may be due to power board issue/Main board issue or Backlight issue which happens during the heat up. Just follow the steps below as you can. Then my suggestion is to replace the power board and see whether it fix the issue. Good luck..! It seems the issue is happened when heating up the tv. First of all check the LED backlights. I believe that this is LED backlight issue.
