This is by far the most useful video in all youtube regarding the pink problem in Unity. There are several videos explaining several ways to fix this problem for a specific case each one so one never truly understands how to fix it next time they face it. You take the time to explain why this happens in first place and such a relevant topic that surprisingly nobody talks about which is the 3 main renderer pipelines in Unity. Like seriusly how is it that not many videos start by this tiny massive detail at all? and the best of all, in a 3 minutes video straight to the point. You not only have a like but a new subscriber.

This video didn't really give me the solution but it gave me the information I needed to track the problem and correct it for my specific case. For those who still strugle after following the steps, try checking the shaders used by the materials imported. On this section you can see listed the renderers installed on your project. I had to try different pipelines and shaders until finding the correct one. Turns out, many asset creators use different unity versions. This can lead into some prefabs having the pink colors and others not even within the same project. For someone who doesn't know this this detail it would be almost impossible to correct the problem. I mean even today, March 2024, it's still all so confusing when you actually try to fix it. But now I understand the purpose of each. Context: I initially created a 3D core project, imported "Kyle the robot" asset, made for URP, everything turned pink. Panicked, created a URP project, re-imported all my packages (without checking compatibility), now kyle is fine, but my trees are pink haha. Luckly I haven't done much on my project yet, was just starting to learn how to make an Open World Survival game. At this point, i'll just create a new project and make sure the assets i get are compatible. I'll stick to the built in renderers for now as i'm still learning.

I'm using URP, but when I try to change the material it only lets me convert it to HDRP rather than the URP I need, any fixes?

Hmm I wish KZbin would let us post photos, but my first guess would be to check if the materials you're trying to convert are for sure made for URP.
