How to fix Plantar Fasciitis in 2 steps (No More Heel Pain When Running or Walking)
Plantar Fasciitis is a common injury that I treat often at my clinic. Pain near the heel at the base of the foot is common for most people to experience at some point in their life. It tends to especially be common in runners.
It's not uncommon for the pain to persist for an extended period of time!
Most of the people who eventually end up coming to see me have been icing their foot religiously...
Tried rolling their foot with a lacrosse ball or frozen water bottle...
Bought different shoes...
Stretch the foot on a daily basis...
Tried Massage, Acupuncture, Dry Needling. They even have worn one of those hard to sleep in Straussburg socks...
Always Addressing Symptoms and Never Focusing On Adaptability & Resiliency
The foot is designed to accommodate to the earth terrain and surfaces.
Instead we try to control and prevent movement in the foot by placing it in braces and overly supported footwear because it feels good at the time, never stopping to think if their could be any consequences down the road.
I am all for helping a patient feel better. Which may include massages, dry needling, IASTM, alteration in footwear, tapping, etc.
But these are temporary fixes to try an help facilitate function.
This means we better be gradually teaching the foot how to perform both pronation and supination again effectively and efficiently being able to create both foot shapes. Then building resiliency by increasing strength in the foot!

Omg, this actually works, can walk on heel straight after doing this with no pain 😃, thank you 🙏🏻 I’ve had it on and off for 2 years as I exercise and walk a lot. Will keep doing them 😘

So I've recently started playing soccer again. For the past few months I've been only been working out in the gym. Every time I play soccer now, I literally can't walk after the adrenaline wears off and the next days without feeling pain on the back of my heel.

@@justinlouis7403 I want to PT for 12 weeks. I did biking or walking for 5 minutes to get the blood flowing, calf stretches about 30 degree angle for 20 seconds with a few seconds rest 3x both feet. (There is a board on Amazon but it’s like 60$). I got ultrasound both feet and scraping to desensitize the nerves. There were some balance exercises on a boca ball* balance trainer doing step exercises to strengthen the ankle muscles that help with balancing + 30 seconds balancing each foot with assistance like a wall or something to grab 3x each. Walking heel to toe long hall way forwards and backward. Single leg Calf raises on a stair or something to go below flat with assistance upward and slow controlled down. With this routine one of my feet are recovered but the other is not. I wear work boots 12 hours a day and am not super active at work and need to be more active outside of work. My foot doctor recommended power step brand insoles specifically for this to help as well, they feel great walking.

@@justinlouis7403 If you are physically active and you put a half hour into the stretching and strengthening of your calf’s and ankles 3x a week after a warmup you could probably recover in 8 weeks. Make sure you aren’t walking barefoot , you need the arch support. I got mine from running in a new pair of running shoes on pavement that had less sole. I should of stuck with my Hoka’s 😂. I forgot rolling your feet with a lacrosse ball or similar and calf roller to loosen up your muscles. You are trying to stimulate the connective tissues between your feet and calf’s.

Stretch, better shoes with arch support and custom orthotics will help heel pain.

Your intro is 4+ minutes long. You never got to first exercise until after repeating yourself for 4 minutes. Your entire presentation could be done in four minutes.

I have had pf for 8 years. I'm in horrid pain. I now roll my feet outwards and so now the pain along the outside edges of my feet is hellish.

That's what happens when you rob from Peter to pay Paul....Address the plantar fascia correctly with someone who will show you a step by step process so you don't avoid the problem and create other issues.

patients is a virtue my friend...Small exercise with subtle adjustments make all the difference. If you don't have patience to learn them, you shouldnt be trying them nor will you get any benefit from it. Very commonly why people end up hurt too fyi
