Dude! Drunk or not, this saved me a shitload of diagnosis!! Back drivers window has never worked so after crossing these wires over, I tapped on rear motor and it worked. Now they all work!Thangth thow muth!! Hehe

Best and most simple how to for this problem. Fixed mine about a year ago by connecting the those wires together with those screw on splices. You should share this video on the xj forums for extra hits.

It's a Tap Splice, cost about $3 for a small pack of 5 at Home Depot (if you don't feel like looking around for just one).

this is the most messed up way I've ever seen someone use on those blue jump clamps but it worked so thats all that matters. Good job there guy

Sweet, all my windows work! I did something even easier though, just bridged them together with each end of a piece of wire stuck into the white connector. Thank you!

All this does is bypass (& disable) the master window lock switch on the drivers control panel. If your particular window problem has nothing to do with that switch, this will likely not solve the problem. (If the individual window regulator / motor is bad, this will not solve it) It should also be re-stated that this does disable your master window lock switch, so all of the individual window switches will work even though the lock switch is activated.

You know I did have plans to pull my drivers side switch assembly out and bring it in the house to re solder the switch pins on the board because that's actually the main cause of this problem. But your video just showed me that I can be lazy and bypass it completely. Greatly appreciated bro.

Great video! this is just what I needed to verify I had a bad lockout button on my drivers door switching panel. I made a jumper from some 12 gauge stranded wire I had laying around and jammed it in to the connector. That did it! I will replace the panel, but your video saved me tons of time and easier than trading to decode the FSM. Thankyou!!!

or you could do it right, by pulling off the door panel, take the switch assembly out of the panel, take out the screws take off the switch covers, pull the assembly apart, and re-solder the two cracked solder dots under the window lock switch so that it allows the electricity to flow and reassemble. Super easy, no "jury rigging", and you'll be able to use your window locks still...

So I am having trouble with this as well. Mine is a 2001 jeep xj. It doesn't matter if the lock out button is pushed or not. All the windows are hit or miss. More miss than hit. Is it a wire harness?

Worked like a charm! I accidentally drilled through the divider on the quick splice and it allowed me to make the connection without having to cut a wire. Just made it a little easier... Thanks for posting!

Even easier if you take a paper clip and bridge the cable right at the back of the white plug. Electrical tape to cover it up and you're done in 2 minutes.

This is a great fix!! But, you should not cut any harness wires, and using the splice connector in the method shown may not be reliable. Instead, use two splice connectors, one for the yellow and one for the tan wire, with a third wire going between the two connectors. Just youtube how to use splice connectors. Thanks.

I did this and am only having issue with the passenger window, I’ve replaced regulator and motor and done the splice. Maybe a fuse or electrical at the passenger side? Doesn’t work at the passenger or on the driver side

NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE BLUE CONNECTORS ARE CALLED! Would someone be kind enough to send me a good electrical wiring repair and splicing kit that I can order online. I am new to auto electrical and am willing to purchase a decent kit. I have a multi-meter and good testing equipment. No splice kits yet. Great Video. Thanks for making it. Did it the hard way should of used 2 with a short piece of wire between them or get the pass thru scotch block.

I've got an odd issue in my xj, passenger side windows work from their switches and from the drivers side master switches, however, both drivers side windows front and rear stopped working & stuck down. It was doing this intermittently, seemed like a few door shuts we're fixing it at times, I always disconnect my negative from the battery due to a power draw I believe is from the stock radio, I noticed a few times when plugging the neg back in those two drivers side windows would work. Stumped. Checked for frayed wires in door, all is okay there. Any ideas?

My issue is that my windows dont roll down at all using that, but my passenger side window rolls down with its respective switch. Power locks dont engage on them at all either other than passenger side.

I’m having an issue with my one rear window behind the driver side. All of them go up and down with master control and or by single switch on each door. Except that one. Will only go down and not go I replaced motor and still the same issue any help ?

Donald Wyckoff thank you much for your great response. I did end up doing that by finding no power to the wiring and yea took the boot off and not only one wire was cut but 2 of them seems like those wires are common to break loose. Now I have my window working. Thank you.

great tip. But you could have achieve the same thing without cutting any wires. Used two of the blue tabs one on each colored wire and run a 1-inch wire between the two and clip ...

IT just ended up being a wire that was between the door and the jeep. It had been bend back and forth for 200,000 miles and now it's bad. Mechanic fixed it. $35 dollars

My driver side back window doesn’t go up or down. Matter of fact it slips down about an inch by itself when the car shakes a bit, due to a bump or something. Anyone know if this fixes that too???anything helps

Window motor is probably dead or the window has popped out of the glide mechanism. You would need to take the door panel apart to know for sure.

+Phil Harris I've done that. The problem is also with the wiring down by the kick panel. I've heard some people have gotten good results from lengthening the connection because I guess Chrysler didn't design their wiring to be long enough. I dunno, we'll see.
