Dielectric grease is not a conductor and will not make a better connection FYI

Ok my safety lock doesn't work. But all other windows work except my driver's side window. Could this be the whole panel? Just get a new one?

So i just wanted to verify. your fixing the problem that the passenger window switch wont work on the passenger window but it can still be rolled down on the driver side?

Correct, the issue is related to the child lock button but you can bypass it with the method in the video.

Pay the $20 on amazon and just buy a new switch. Swapped it out in 15 minutes, works like new.

@@davidgleason6323 Hi David, I tried the solder method on the master switch on my 2000 XJ Sport. Thought I did it correctly, but it didn't correct the issue. More on why... Please read the entire post. Next I used a good switch from a 98'. It worked for about 2 minutes with no consistent logic that I could determine. It is the safety switch causing the issue - partially. On or off, up or down, the switch would sometimes allow the passenger window to go up and down. Sometimes not. Just dead in the head I guess. All other windows work. (I'm afraid to think the mouse that lived in the glove box - blower got in the firewall and did some damage over the past winter - but that is worse case scenario. So far, he didn't raise hell with the engine or anything else. Happy Mouse. Good Tenant) It sounds like DeathfireD is saying in short - cut the brown wire and yellow wire, and wire nut them together to see what happens. If it functions, clean it up with a proper splice. Don"t let the kids jump out. I'm at my wits end. Michigan is hitting 70 F and my boys can't ride in the XJ without the window down. Functional A/C? In a dream.... I'm unemployed and COVID is here. We gotta get out to the woods and worry about West Nile for a bit instead. Please verify! (I think my first switch went bad after soldering because - hear me out - after I did the soldering I applied CRC plastic electrical connector to the panel - thinking it was circuit board cleaner. Yeah. I know. I assume I just covered the board in insulation after doing that and so everything went haywire. That's when I installed the 98" switch with limited success. Anyone that wants to add to this - please do. I've got schematics. Testing equipment. But very basic electrical skill. Your valuable input is appreciated. I'm trying. Don't kick me in the nuts on this one. No razzing. I can't take it today. ;) Special Thanks, Chris Bridges in Kalamazoo, Michigan

INFO12 WILLIAMS 1 second ago Excellent my jeeps windows now work without a lot of hassle. I expected the plug to be on the right hand side being a right steer JEEP but it still remains on the left hand side

Does the window child lock still work for the back windows or does it bypass them as well? Thanks
@DeathfireD
@DeathfireD 4 жыл бұрын
You're bypassing the child window lock completely. If you need it to still work then you'll need to properly fix this issue by taking the window cluster out of the driver side door and cleaning the contacts for each of the buttons and make sure all the wires are still properly soldiered and clean.

This isn't always the problem, check everything before doing this. I did it and it wasn't the issue at all.

What else should be checked if all the other windows function properly from the driver's controller and all the other windows besides the drivers, don't work from their individual controller? What did your issue turn out to be?
