How to FIX PS4 Error Code NW-31194-8 Connection to the Server Has Been Lost (Easy Method!)

Are you trying to connect to playstation network and you keep getting a ps4 error code that stays "the connection to the server has been lost" (NW-31194-8). When you test your internet connection, you see your internet and IP address are successful, but when you connect to PSN, it says it has failed to connect to PSN. An easy way to try to fix this is by chaning the MTU settings in the network setup. Go to settings, go to setup connection. Then choose custom, continue to MTU, choose manual. Type in 1476 for the MTU setting. Then test your internet connection.

Thousands of users get this error constantly ever since update 8.0 and none of these workarounds fix the problem. The issue is on Sony’s end, not people’s internet. It’s unreal how terrible Sony’s net code is. Literal garbage.

I’ve been playing Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 lately and this error keeps occurring rapidly but I keep pressing circle to get out of it and back to the online match, but it keeps popping up here and there and it ruins the gameplay, it only happens for Ghost of Tsushima though not any other game

I've been getting this error message ever since I upgraded Ghost of Tsushima's online update. I haven't actually lost psn connection, it's just a message that keeps popping up driving me nuts. I'll try this and let you know.

So I’ve deleted my account like you suggested in the other video, I then created a new user and tried to sign into the PSN got the error code which was stated in this video. I followed all the steps but still the connection has failed. I’d like to add that my internet connection is fine and there is no problems with the PlayStation servers. Any ideas? Late response but I’ve tried it with my hotspot and it works. Now just gotta try it with my actual wifi and if it doesn’t work then welp 😐 I’ll probably just have to use my phone’s hotspot in order to play online which sucks. But if it works then I guess it’s better than nothing.

Ok so I was having the problem of my PlayStation network failing and if it wasent that it was the internet connection and wen that was successful it would tell me my connection speed failed. It literally would just switch which one failed everytime I tested it. I had this problem for a week and couldn’t get on any app or nothing. So I unplugged my router and unplugged EVERYTHING on it cable everything, for about 10 minutes. And I turned my ps4 off while the router was unplugged or WiFi box whatever. This worked for me hopefully It’ll help y’all too.

Help me When I start my ps4 it says checking system storage and pause at 25 or some times 27 this was my new hdd buyed 2 months ago but now when I have this issue I initialized my ps4 it turns on and when ever I turn off it again it goes to checking system storage and says download the system software 7.50 and I update system software using internet it gives a error code or sometimes it starts and again when I turn of same process starts.

@ITookThatPersonal Basically I did a full reset on the ps4. Once you sign back in the ps will reload everything back. So a full reset fixed the problem and once I signed in I had all my games and progress back after an hour or so.

@ITookThatPersonal I seen that changing the cable for the wired connection is most probably the cause. In my case I think I changed my cable too while the PS was doing a reset so it could have also been the cable. I didn't think much about it when the reset worked. But definitely try changing the cable so you can rule it out.
