Hey. Thanks for the tips. I just got Resident Evil Village and have been trying to play it on a PS4 Pro. The noise from the fan was pretty bad but thanks to some of your suggestions I have been able to greatly reduce it but not totally eliminate it. The tip that helped me most in this video is to set it horizontally on something. I propped mine up on a couple of text books and left about 9" of empty space between them under the console. This cut back on the fan noise a lot for some reason and I suspect better heat disipation may have something to fo with it. For some reason mine runs better with HDCP on. Also, in game I optimized for frame rate and set the console's resolution to "automatic". I don't know if it's running at 4K but it would probably help the console run more efficiently at 1080p instead. A liquid cooler could be advantageous here: liquid is superior to air in a lot of regards but it seems unlikely it would work in something like this. A liquid cooler/pump would eliminate all fan noise, though, and provide for superior cooling.

Actually, I left 7" of empty space as the PS4 Pro is about 11.5" wide. It's important to make sure the console is placed on a sturdy surface so I correct myself in case anyone else is troubleshooting the same issue.

@@DanielZH didn't even open it up just cleaned the dust off, it sounded like an airplane but now its wayyy better i just took of the top and cleaned the dust off and i rebuilded the database.

In the back of the physical copy of the disc cases there are some games that shows which resolution it natively supports (like 720p or 1080 something). I’m not 100% sure but the game resolution difference is probably a game per game basis.

@@ryze4775 It's a bit hard, I did it and even replaced thermal paste, but you have to be careful with that. There are a few good videos on YT how to do it.

Idk if this is true but I'm pretty sure the PS4 outputs the resolution selected to the TV instead of downscaling

Yeah I don't know either, haven't seen anyone confirm that when you choose lower, it renders that lower res, I think it downscale, I'm not sure though, if it wouldn't normally it should be capable of more stable FPS or lower power, which I didn't test any of those, that's why I asked.

Grab screw drivers, compress air, and alcohol wipes. Open up iFixit and open we’re the cooler is, and just start getting your hands dirty. As a pc gamer, it’s ALWAYS recommended to clean your electronics every year. PS4 HAS NO filters at all which leads to over heating which could lead horrible thermals and could AO your whole system. Just cleanning it for just 2 minutes could fix the horrible thermals. This is Sony fault for not giving a easy way to manually clean a your console, this goes for every console :/ I built hundreds of gaming PCs and opening a ps4 was the most complicated thing ever.

Hi, I agree, the biggest issue comes to Thermal paste though, I've seen people didn't change that over a decade! for such console that works on high temp, it should get changed at least once in two years, I did it a few times and the noise got half!

I have a Ps4 Pro. Playing RDR2 it's so loud on fan that my wife could not here her Skype call in same small room. It was also louder than 50% volume on a Sony 65" smart TV. The outside is clean but I haven't opened it yet.

I think the best solution would actually be modding your PS4. The real issue isn't the fan or heat, it's fluting. The shape of the vent is just a shape that happens to produce a lot of turbulence, therefore producing a lot of noise. I wish someone would come up with a good way to fix the fluting on it, rather than patchwork heating solutions

Hi, it may affect 1-2% (in terms of heat, but considering it can make your ping lower, and higher speed, it still worth to use instead of WiFi anyway

Just like a PC or a smartphone, consoles come with functions and programs that I personally never use and has an impact on performance or storage, and you cant remove them. That bothers me.

Alot of the time the problem is in the bottom on the big metal heat sink it can be full of dust if your fan is wore and has a wobble it will make noise to.

But i have one question and i cant found anywhere who can help me... i have PS4 slim 500gb + SSD 500gb and i playing on Samsung tv Crystal UHD 2020.. cod Warzone from season 1 to 3 (verdansk map) was running so smooth and after 3 season i was started to get so much fps drops in Verdansk till now in Pacific.. in big map so much fps drops but if i playing Rebirth Resurgence it goes smooth and no fps drops.. i dont understand how to fix that.. sometimes i tired to play only Rebirth.. i cant find on internet or youtube whats the problem and how to fix that.. sorry for my bad english but i hope so you understand what 9 problem i have and i hope so you can help me somehow to fix that problem :/

Or you just drill a few holes in the crappy case and put an external fan to blow that heat away. I got Ps4 fat with cooling mods and it just rests at 62-69 degrees Celsius without the internal fan spinning. To the touch that Ps4 is cold as a snake! 😂
