You can take the bottom apart and clean it but I advise to put the bottom together if you leave the top case off. And take all the heat shields out leave them out. And put yours screws where your fan holds down back in it so it dosent rattle. Leave all other screws out

Fan speed depends on system temperature i know. But i want just to get sure about it. Is it okay to ps4 case to be hot but quiet? Rest of repair is good, but two Nooos! WD40 is *not* a lubricant, this turns into thick waxy petroleum, this will be warranty return issue, I use normal medium oil even engine oil is perfect, instead, I drill using fine sharp drill into the bearing from back and inject oil via blunt needle. this restores lifetime of these fans if needed if they are stiff or noisy. Second, the old paste has to cleaned off completely, it is hard and bubbled, even worse on all microsoft consoles. Then strip of 600 grit sandpaper wrapped round thick, small flat square of metal sand the heatsink's surface to make this more flatter and more smoother, yet still matte, clean again. Then I use mid end thermal paste like Noctua NT-H2 or Arctic Silver 5 thin covered on APU die surface completely, then reassemble. All consoles get this procedures regardless even just for hard drive replacement to prevent warranty bounce and extend the lifetime of these consoles even Slims too. I had no overheating issues afterwards, the ones that came back had other issues is rare in 4 years of as tech repair. Cheers,
