I had the same issue. The reason why the ps5 is randomly shutting off is because it is overheating. The fix is to clean the fan, the dust collectors and the heat sinks(do not unplug the fan because the wires are very very fragile, just put the fan on top of the PlayStation). Flash a flashlight inside the ps and you will definitely see the dust. You will need: A toothbrush A cloth preferably a microfiber cloth Toothpick A long very thin stick Clean the heat sinks and the fan with the toothbrush. Clean the dusk collector with the toothpick and the long stick. (After you remove the fan look inside and on the bottom right corner you will see some holes those are the dust collectors. Try to remove the clogged dusk from every hole). This method worked 100% for me and my ps is working fine without any shutdowns.

Whenever I play the ps5 version of the game my ps5 crashes and turns off, the ps4 version of the game works perfectly fine. Happened to me a few times. It once happened when I turned on the PS5. There was some message on the TV but it was only for few seconds and went away. So, I don't know what it said. Once it happened to me while I was playing a game (Demons Souls). In the second instance (& perhaps in the first as well) I had woken up the PS5 from idle state - almost dimming to enter the rest mode. I have now turned off the Rest Mode completely to see if that's what is causing the problem. I have also come across two more issues: 1. Screen goes black while playing a game but comes back on after few seconds. 2. Network/Internet disconnects on its own.

Funny thing is the turn off happened to me with the same game Deamon's Souls at the exact same stage 2nd Archstone in the smithing grounds in the tunnel above Ed the blacksmith.. Relatively new consol maby 2-3 months old.. Really hope that if wont happen again, both my gf and I jumped when it happend, we thought that the securer for the home electricity jumped out and went to see it 🤣 But it wasnt the TV was working and on the screen apeared a message explaning how i should not pull out the plug to turn off the PS5 instead i should use the controler and go to the Turn off option and do it that way, afterwards it did like a damage reparing update for 2 seconds and it started normaly..

This happened to me when I was playing Spiderman Miles Morale. I think the issue was that the game was poorly optimized for the PS5 despite it being an exclusive which caused the PS5's CPU to work harder and overheat. Consoles are designed just like PC's to where they automatically shut off to prevent further damage to internals whenever they reach a certain temperature. My PS5 auto shutdown after like 5 hours of gaming and I would turn it back on thinking it was dead for good. Luckily waiting patiently I decided to try to power on my PS5 and boom it worked. I think it just needed time to cool off. I played other games and they didn't nearly push the console to it's limit nor did my PS5 get as hot even playing for hours. Also using a fan to blow towards the back of the PS5 also helps. The point is I think it was a heat issue.

I've actually had this exact problem since my ps4. What I do is rebuild the database and clear the cache. I also have a routine where I plug my system power cord in but don't turn the system on. A few moments later unplug and wait a few seconds again to plug it in. I do that last part with the wire Everytime and it seems to keep things going good.

I downloaded the latest software 2 days ago... 20 minutes after that my Ps5 suddenly turned off and I couldn't turn it back on unless I unplug the power first I did a reset of the console yesterday... Hey guys sorry to say but the only way to pix this issue is by Resetting the PS5 completely. It’s actually a test mode glitch and it’ll keep happening until you reset it. MAKE SURE U UPLOAD ALL UR GAME DATA TO THE CLOUD!!!! U can reset it by holding the power button until it beeps twice then u go to the 6th option and reset it. After that when it’s back on TURN OFF REST MODE. If your ps5 ever goes into rest mode again it’ll happen over and over again and you’ll have to keep resetting. Hope this helped

It’s an overheating issue, place console in a well ventilated area and drop the fps from 120, if your using that, to 60 fps. No need to max out the console when you don’t need to. Never had an issue since then…

For me doing this method it has never happened again, but I always make sure my SSD is never full , I keep it just above half way and use my PS4 games for my Ps4 console unless I'm Upgrading, but no guarantee it will never happen so backup the saves just incase:-))

Doesn't fix it just gets it back on. I got mine in November 2020 after pre-ordering it in September and 7 months later it would shut off after playing PS5 games for 15-25 minutes. It would play PS4 games fine but disc and digital PS5 games it would shut off. I sent it off, got it back about 2 weeks later, and it worked fine until I installed an allegedly compatible M.2 drive in it a couple of weeks ago. Now it shuts off completely random.

Seems like a faulty system, but rest it for an hour then do this method and see if you have any luck, if you do manage to get it running do a factory reset and only play PS5 games, back up your game saves to the cloud before doing reset.

Since the very first PlayStation this by far has been the biggest disappointment. Mine is riddled with issues. I’ve had it for 2 weeks now and I’ve had nothing but problems. “Too many USBs in use” to overheating issues. Now it’s just straight turning off with no errors or messages. What a joke

My ps5 just shuts off randomly now for no reason even tho it’s not hot or anything. I’m being told to factor reset my console from live chat support when I should just be able to play a ps5 game or the ps5 version of one and not have it cut off on me. This console is still relatively new and if it has an issue where you can’t even experience the true potential of the console. Then what’s the point of ever playing the ps5 version anyway? The crazy part is, other ps5s don’t have the problem and others do. You shouldn’t have a console that can’t even run its own games. I’ve never had this problem with the ps2, ps3, or ps4.

@@aidendorion5694 I’ve asked Sony live support and I’ve literally done everything except factory reset my ps5 because I’m not getting a whole ass usb to download all my stuff onto and then download it all again just for it not to work and then telling me to send it in for a repair. I’ve also saw on Reddit and dude tried that and it did nothing still. So at this point, I’m lost. I don’t even play my ps5 that much anymore as it is and when I do, I can’t even play my ps5 games specifically. Like that’s what it’s literally made for, to play ps5 games flat out. Not struggle to just play them. I’m actually so disappointed in Sony. No one should have to pay 500 dollars just to not be able to get the use out of it 🤦🏼‍♂️

This happened to me while playing MLB The Show '21. Before it was during F1 2021 twice, and twice for Watch Dogs Legion. It makes a weird sound, then it shuts down. For WD, my character goes in circles, then it shuts off.

Mines just started especially with 2k **edit so I plugged everything out including the main plug at the back of the ps also switched around games from main console storage to USB but the main thing I found was turning the ps on its side I've always had it standing on the ground which was causing it to be so so hot so since doing all that I haven't had a single issue so fingers crossed that's the solution

Even the cables are warm. I have to unplug it to get it to power back on. My hard drive is on the fuller side and had to get an external hard drive

Try option 7 in safe mode then go back into safe mode do a system update, 9.14 update from December should be there and then a feature update on settings,my ps5 lasted 5 hours instead of 30 mins and that was before I did the feature update since then hasn’t turned off so far

My Ps5 I’d say has turned off 50 times at this stage by itself. It never happens to my Ps5 games only certain ps4 games. Yeah but at least you can gather up all your saved data and put them in a safe place just in-case it happens again, as for me doing this method solved the problem and hand on heart never experienced the shutting off issue again from the time I made the video up until this day, but all I play is PS5 games on it, and just use my PS4 console for the games and saves:-))

Hi, how did it go with your issue ? I'm experiencing the exact same thing these last weeks... Only crashed on PS5 games yet (Warframe, Resident Evil 8) and never on PS4 ones, even after 8-10 hours straight. The only that changed recently is that I added a Western Digital SSD (basically the best model "perfect" for PS5) but my PS5 SSD was completely empty and it still happened to me. Several times.
