It never fails that somewhere some bit of masking lift and allows leaking on almost everyone so learning to fix the oops spots is much better than hating a finished product because of drips, leaks and streaks that are going to show up even with good prep! And yes, stickers are a savior of many paint job oops!!!

Hay you got any advise on painting a RC hard body. I sprayed a car body that came out well. Left it for 12 hours to cure. I then use a clean microfibre cloth to clean any contaminants off and then sprayed the body again and I get cracking. Really anouying as I am trying to get a good body shape finish
@poorboysrc6 ай бұрын
Hey there. You can check out this video, where I paint an ABS body. It should provide some help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXPUh4l_h75ga7s But when you say "cracking," do you mean the paint was cracking?
@DustyFingersRC2 жыл бұрын
My theory on lLexan shells is the paint itself will lift the masking in places so corrections are.always needed. I use the Tamiya stuff and also the Carson alternative which is cheaper. Important to make sure you clean the solution off the body once you have removed the paint. I use an alcohol wipe. 👍🏼

Good point Damian, I think I forgot to mention that in the video. 👊

Can you use enamel thinner? Also i had two large bottles of that Lexan RC body carbonate cleaner but they were in plastic bottles and they literally had ate through their bottles into the outer clear bags and both bottles dissipated. Stuffs no joke!
@poorboysrc4 ай бұрын
@Ultra-Collector thinners are too aggressive and will cloud the lexan and make it very brittle. It's a no fly zone. Lots of guys use nitro fuel to remove paint. I've never done it, but I hear it works well.

Hi, I've got a question. So my lexan has got scratches from crawling & trailing. Can I just repaint from the inside like on a clear body or do I need to remove the paint & respray all over again?
@poorboysrc Жыл бұрын
If you're looking to get rid of the scratches, your best bet is to try and polish the lexan. Repainting won't help, as the paint is on the inside of the body and the scratches are on the outside.

Hello, my son tried painting his first RC body and ended up with a few dark blobs of darker paint on his dream RC body. How can I fix this issue? Could I use rubbing alcohol to erase this mistake and once dried repaint?
@poorboysrc Жыл бұрын
Rubbing alcohol won't work. Many guys use nitro fuel, it'll remove the paint easily. I've heard of guys using brake fluid as well, but I've never tried it myself. 👊

I’m trying to strip a body but don’t have access to old nitro fuel. I know that brake fluid turns plastic brittle as does acetone. I’ve been told non acetone nail polish remover works but I’m not sure. Any suggestions?

I use nail polish to remove a small paint part, now my lexan is opaque, what can I do? THanks
@poorboysrc6 ай бұрын
The Acetone in nail polish remover is too harsh for the lexan and will fog it and make it brittle. Not much you can do at this point, other than put some decals over it, or paint the outside. 👍🏻

Do you know of any sort of adhesive, spray or otherwise, that would perform well in putting decal stickers on the inside of the body? I'm sick and tired of stickers coming off of my basher bodies!
@poorboysrc2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of companies that make aerosol adhesion promoters and adhesives which might be the right pick for you! I've never applied decals on the inside, I don't know if these products would alter the colors at all, but it's worth a test run. DuPont adhesion promoter was the brand I used back in the day, works great! 🤙

If my bleed isn’t in a corner area, will you be able to tell it was a repair job once it’s fixed ?
@poorboysrc2 жыл бұрын
As long as you're using fine sandpaper as mentioned in the vid, and painting over it, no, you won't see the repair. But be gentle, this paint takes a couple soft swipes and it's gone. If you're too rough, yes, you'll see the repair, especially with a metallic/pearl paint.
