How to Fix / Remove / Replace / Upgrade Door Speakers - Land Rover Freelander 1 XQM101600

In this video we look at replacing the speakers in our Land Rover Freelander 1 project car. The original speakers ( Land Rover Part Number XQM101600 or AMR5673 ) are now over £150 from Land Rover so it was time to look at alternatives.

Ah Simon…is it 1973 and my new Capri 1600XL is ready for an upgrade! I’m out in the garage fitting my new Sharp ATR 942 VHF transistor radio and upgrading the speakers for some from Clarion (because a friend worked for Joseph Lucas Ltd!!! ). It was magic to see the red lights and glowing dials after the dull Ford unit but, guess what, I still have that Ford factory fit radio ready to go should I get an urge to find a 1969 2000 GT XLR hidingi in a secret garage…THY 941G would be good!!!😀😀😀😀

@@L663 Ah…these callow youths!!! Yes I was there, brown flares, a tweed Hacking jacket, yellow shirt and “Sing something simple….” on the radio…well I couldn’t be ALL trendy! Sadly I never had to fight the desperate young ladies off…they were too fast running away and I couldn’t catch them up and no, I never got to San Francisco BUT I was there…I remember it well…..thankfully no pictures survive which is total good luck!! 😱😎😎😎😎😀😀😀

Hi Simon , that a great informative video, I have freelander mk1 HSE facelift , they use Harmon kardon speakers which tend not last very , great idea with your mounting plate . Well done mark

Hi great show, your videos are always interesting, anyway I was wondering if you had thought of an electric fan or fans upgrade for the Discovery 4, thereby getting rid of that electrical actuated mechanically driven rubbish fan. There doesn't seem to be anything specific on the market and I would definitely be interested in getting a kit to fit one. Anyway keep up the good work. Chas
