Thanks for this video. I just fixed my wife’s car. Hardest part was removing the mirror (and remembering where all the screws went back). Most complicated, but cheap fix ever. Just as a tip, I used a small suction cup to remove the mirror. Was scared of breaking it as it took a lot of force but it came off. Also interesting to find out that the painted part on the outside of the mirror can clip off. For those that are not up to pulling the whole mechanism apart, this means that you could replace with another mirror and simply change over the cover if not matching the car.

Hey Manoj. I don't what's wrong with mine is the motor gear or the motor it's self. Because when connect the electrical cable to the mirror, the motor just runs and makes noise so I disconnected it

Sometimes my left mirror will go out but never fold in, or I’ll have to manually do both after hitting the button that controls the mirror. And it’s makes a sound immediately after starting the car. I did for a Kia Optima 2013, it worked on the right side at first. Then I noticed, some electrical issues, trunk opening by itself, key fob not working. I then did the other side and figured that I might put the cables wrong (the ones you marked at the beginning) I reversed it and still doing the same. And the mirror folding is not working anymore 🙂‍↕️ Kinda tired, I’m planning on redoing the whole thing see what I missed or taking it to the shop.

Followed the video instructions with help from a GM tech. The repair did not fix the problem. Disassembled and reassembled several times the confirm the procedure was followed correctly. Before the repair you could hear the motor running but after replacing the broken gear your could just hear a hum like the gear was jammed preventing the motor from turning. Any thoughts about another problem with the mirror? Thanks

You should have shown how to remove the actual mirror, it's not as easy as u made it look. The glass can actually break while removing it.

9 months late but for anyone else, use you’re fingers and push the top of the mirror in so that the bottom portion of the mirror is facing up. Should be a gap there now, plenty large enough to then take a long nylon plastic trim removal tool. Wedge it in there behind the mirror then pry down so the trim tool is getting leverage against the outer edge of the mirror housing and the tip of the pry tool should be pressing against the back of the mirror and pop out. You should be able to find a set of these at a local parts store or a Harborfreight tools store. I have a set of Bojo made in the USA trim removal tool set that’s nice. Use a plastic one and not a metal pry tool or screwdriver, you will be less prone to marring any surface of your mirror. Good luck 👍🏾
