Hey I have a easy permanent fix for you if your spring is still on the toilet but seems weak... if the spring works, but barely enough to shut the water off and barely enough to close the waste valve, then you just need to pull the foot lever off and make sure the spring is going I to the correct hole on the foot pedal... It is possible to install the pedal almost correctly...
