You know what I will try this ,I had this since birth,it makes me look fat because my rib cage's bottom few bones is more outwards then my chest itself and I'm a fit person ,then when I put on a shirt it looks like a have a big belly,I had this for years and only now at 14 ,I start feeling self conscious,I searched uneven rib cage and found this video ,I will try this method ,if it works I will come back here to say my results (Edit 1)3 months it worked ,the rib flare is not gone completely but it’s way less noticeable,your abs and chest start to become noticeable,thank you for this video (Edit 2) 2 Years, it cannot completely disappear unless you fix your posture as well. My back doesn’t slouch my back goes the other way so the weight rest somewhere around the area where the spine meets the waist. It contributed to my rib flare. With a correct posture and this exercise it will work a lot better.

hi, thought id share my story real quick in case anyone can relate/needs motivation. tbh ive done like none of the exercises done in this video and im sure they work but im gonna b talking from my experience- just found the most viewed vid w rib flare to comment on. Okay so i'm a teenage girl (wont disclose age) and have pretty bad ribflare. im assuming it stemmed from walk around sucking in my stomach all the time when i was younger, bad posture, and breathing through my lungs. i found out what rib flare was in like january this year (2022) and realised that i had it, and not just 'sticky out ribs' .i scoured the internet trying to find stuff to fix it for weeks, and was really inconsistent with any exercises and got really put off by the fact most results are temporary to some degree. i saw multiple videos on diaphragm/belly breathing, and realised ive been breathing through my lungs my whole life. i started doing it, which was hard at first and i only did it when i remembered to if that makes sense. i didnt really expect results from it, as it was hard to believe my breathing alone could help it. but, like 6 months in i can see improvement despite me not actively doing anything else to help it, my rib flare is reduced. id like to add there was a period of time where i used to do a stomach vacuum type of thing throughout various parts of the day (idk how to explain it but like pushing your ribs down and the air out) which may have aided it but after like a month i stopped doing it. but i just wanna say you may be like extremely insecure about this but i guarantee its more common than you think. i never really noticed it but a lot of people i know have it to some degree and at the end of the day most people dont really care despite my rib flare ive had my figure complimented many times my friends and rib flare does not define you nor the way your body looks. wishing you all the best on trying to reduce/fix it, or embrace it.

(I’m 14 btw) My rib flare was not too bad...but it was gonna get worse. So I worked out on butt and abs the most. And did some breathing exercises. IT TAKES TIME!!! Don’t give up! I worked on my rib flare from May to July and now my ribs finally went down! It’s August and I’m so so happy!!! But I think the thing that helped me the most was breathing right!
@MelikaF01015 жыл бұрын
Pls answer...I have rib flare and these exercises helped my ribs to go down a few centimeters which I think is pretty much. I wanna know if after I stop doing them will the flare come back and where did you find about proper breathing is it really that important?
@sweetiepie6485 жыл бұрын
M F yes! The breathing is very important! Idk where I saw the video but all I’ve done was when I was breathing in, I breathed in with my stomach out and then exhale with the stomach in. You want to put one hand on your chest and one hand on your stomach and make sure you are feeling your stomach go up and down and not your ribs doing that. But mainly exercising your core really helps too. I did at least one minute of planks everyday. Thx and tell me what happens after! 😇
@sweetiepie6485 жыл бұрын

I work out really hard and very often and I still had rib flare. This evening I did 4 different exercises. The roles in this video, side planks, wood choppers, hanging knee raises. I saw some small changes right away when I went to bed today. I also stopped sucking my gut in. I was a heavy kid for years so I always sucked my belly in. As an adult now I have strong middle abs but big holes on the sides. I have learned to be myself and stop making myself hate my core by always sucking in.

i doubt you still read the comments on this video but if you do i just want to say thank you. sadly i think my rib flare might be genetic but even so after just a few days i'm already seeing a big difference. for years i never thought that my rib flare could be and have always been discouraged. ive been working out and weightlifting for a few years now and have always been disappointed by my abs not looking quite right. so for anyone else wondering if this works, the answers yes.
@rubles31432 жыл бұрын
And I doubt you'll see the reply to your comment, but even if you are stuck with it due to genetics, keep working on it to get it as reduced as possible! And even if it's still pronounced, it's really not that bad looking, nobody will judge you especially since you worked to reduce it.

Left rib has been flared ever since I was a kid and I’m 21 now, always been self conscious about. About a year and a half ago I began to develop upper back pain between the spine and left shoulder blade but never really did anything about it due to not really knowing the cause. Just tried the arm raise and I can really feel it in my back, especially where the pain has been, and I had to really push my lower back for it to touch the wall. Makes me think this will work. I’ll do all 3 of these and let you guys know if I have any progress. Some other videos talk about breathing excises to do as well. I’ve been trying to go the gym but my left arm is a little weaker than my right and I assume its because of this. Hopefully I can start going back if this works

I’d say I’m pretty athletic, I Swim competitively for my school, I run distance track and XC for my school, I lift weights. But I also have a rib flair, and for a long time I thought it was just a genetic thing (even though no one else in my family has it). So I watched this and tried the exercises. I only have a 100% foam roller, and I think it’s not strong enough to really penetrate my back muscles so I’ll be getting a harder one soon. I tried the plank and it wasn’t too bad. But the arm lifts, holy cow we’re those hard. I tried them sitting down and I couldn’t believe how hard they actually were to do without my back arching. I regarded myself as very athletic and strong, and I can’t even properly lift my arms above my head lol! I’ll update this in a week or two when I see results. Thanks for the video!!

I did have to make some modifications. I cant do planks yet so I stood with my back against the wall, abs tight and tilted my pelvic in so my back was flat on the wall and not curved. I also did the wall sits laying on the ground and made sure my spine was flat. I had no clue why I couldn't fix my flare or my lower back problems! Thanks!

This is so interesting! My ribs have been flared as long as I remember! I've never had a dr. mention any deformaties, so I wonder if this might be my issue. I will ask my Dr. to verify next time I'm there. I have a roller that I will get on sometimes and roll whatever feels good. It feels awkward to roll my sides, but I always feel more relaxed after doing so. 🧐 Edited to add: I also have the problem with hunched shoulders and a hump just below my neck from forward head posture. The exercises you did against the wall are very similar to ones I've learned to fix that. Are the flared ribs and forward head posture related?

I was trying to find a way to bench press correctly with my pointy ribs in the way and came across this. I have, throughout the years, fucked up my posture with excessive roundind over of the upper back to hide my ribs, I didn't even know this was a "thing", let alone a fixable one. I'll edit this comment with the results after trying it out! Edit: I've been doing the arm raises and the difference is visibly noticeable, it really worked and almost instantly

I had to pay about a total of $1,800 ($100 a month) to the anesthesia doctors and hospital, but then I found out my insurance didnt want to pay the $8,400 of their share because I needed to have proof that I NEEDED the surgery. My pectus wasnt life threatening so it was hard getting proof. It sure did have effect on my social life though. So in the end, it was worth it.

I don't notice much of a change in my lats when I roll them out. However, when I do planks or even just flex my abs while standing, my rib flare feels balanced out while performing the movement. Based off thar, is it more likely that the cause of my rib flare is due to a weak core? Just feel disappointed reading about a lot of people's instant results just with foam rolling while I don't feel anything.

Lately It seems my ribs are constantly flared. In the last year, I have had a lot of upper bloating in my stomach. Could this bloating have caused the constant rib flare? The rib flare is also painful. Painful to lift or do physical activity. X ray seemed to look fine. So two questions: Can upper bloating cause rib flare? Is rib flare painful, and painful when lifting?

Damn I wish I had found this sooner, I do have pectus excavatum but it’s very mild but my core is also very weak even though I have visible abs and what not but I’ve noticed over the years that the left side of my torso looks significantly different in terms of muscle definition and size specifically the lats and obliques and I’ve never felt self conscious about the way my torso looks until now. I’ve recently started bulking up and because of how flared my ribs are a long with the weight gain I’m starting to look fat with a shirt on even though I’m as skinny as can be so I’m starting to become pretty self conscious about the way I look now and after watching this video it’s given me hope for some change! That being said I’m going to go out and get a foam roller and try these exercises daily and I will come back to update you all! Thank you again and stay safe out there everyone!

Hey how has it been going for u?

Mr PicklesEATYOU ! Mr PicklesEATYOU ! Hey! Well unfortunately because of the quarantine going on and me being home for the past month I wasn’t able to go out and get that roller as soon as I was hoping but I bought it a couple days ago now that I’m back at work and I can confidently say that the roller absolutely works in terms of relieving muscle tension and aching but yeah right away I was able to notice more range of motion and so far I’ve just been focusing on range of motion and these stretches and techniques and I can’t say I’ve noticed anything extraordinary just yet but then again there’s a lot more to it then just the rib flare, my whole lifestyle leading up to this point has been counterproductive towards helping my rib flare and pectus excavatum so I’m technically starting from scratch with all of this so it might take some time! But I have high hopes! I’m going to keep using the roller and start doing more advanced variations of stretching and do specific exercises that I found on Athleanx’s channel and I’ll come back here from time to time let you guys know about any progress I’ve made!💪🏻
