all joking aside, if it charges inductively... try brushing out/cleaning the usb port. this has worked MANY times for me, even with my laptops and desktops.

Started using my mini usb converter that came with the phone and the lightning charger that it came with as well and no problems now.

shak1978 bhagoban Well... alcohol is not water. Water proof means exactly that... it's "Water-Proof" and Dust Resistant. It also wont hold off every type of water. Salt water for example most likely still will get in and/or (at least) corode stuff.

It is waterproof but not alcohol proof. The alcohol is actually used to soften the adhesive and then we need to use an opening pick to slice through the phone and get it disassembled.

Sam Sen did it not occur to you that this guide is for mobile phone repair shops? you being a regular guy won't take the chance to do it and because of that you will spend hundreds to get a new phone when you could pay bout $80 to have someone fix your $1000 phone

Not sure if this will help anyone but when my phone does this and won't charge. I use a charging pad first. the light on the pad will signal that it is charging but not on the phone. Then I plug in my regular charger. Keeping the phone on the charging pad the whole time. Using both chargers. The lighting bolt signaling charging should appear. It will stay with just the symbol for a bit then will actually start charging. I do this everything my phone won't turn on or charge. Hope it helps. And it really does work. Might make a video next time I have to do it.

You can do it either way. We usually use alcohol, N-hexane, or heat gun to dissolve or soften the adhesive. Like @Semo jook said, the phone in this video has been disassembled before.

Not world ending but be extra careful if you do try to remove this IC, it has clear underfill and does NOT come of as easily as is shown. I assume they had already removed it once. They are smart to advise protecting the CPU from any excess heat. These Samsung boards can take a crap ton of heat before letting go of a chip so be wary.

I got the same problem here, my PMIC has output voltage of 5ish too, but the battery does not charge, i have all the signals of battery charging, but no voltage at the battery connector. Wondering whether someone can shed some light. I checked some capacitors down close to the IC 98506BEWV and they look shorted, wondering if this IC could be the problem.

REWA how did you solder on the new chip. You didn't add any bga solder to the board before putting on the new chip after you removed ALL the old solder

Hi Shaun Deonarine. We usually apply BGA solder flux to the board before soldering. For this video, you may have missed 5:58s. Which you can check again.

That's a new chip with tin balls on it. The tin balls on the chip will be connected with the pads on the board. So the solder paste is applied to help with the contact of the chip and board when soldering. Is this what you mean?

i took my s8 to a repair shop and they showed me the new battery that they inserted into the phone and it turned on but it does't charge. they said there could be another problem but it would cause serious issues to the hardware and damage the phone completely so i didn't take risk and only told them to bring the phone together and leave the new battery. i payed $120 for this. help!!!!!??? i literally can't afford a new phone. i don't feel like bothering my parents with it.

For manufacturers will be great if they use screws on the back and no sticky tape will be allowed as this tape loose the chemistry after 3-5 year. I like when things design to last so no firmware upgrade torture like apple does or running high current in small Bga packages then no wonder why all the ic fail if the body of the parts and I side the printing on silicon is weak

These stupid KZbin videos makes it look so easy when in fact I tried doing this on 2 motherboards and failed with both. I don't know if I couldn't align the chips properly or what the problem was but this is extremely complicated! I also have a shaky hand and I accidentally moved all tiny SMDs on both boards. This is impossible for me.

Are you using the same cable? If it is the same cable you applied, maybe the plug adapter is not working. If it is not the same cable, then, maybe the cable with adapter is not working.
