Will this work to add more plastic to the nose of the boat? I have tried gator patch but concrete has rubbed right through it
@ChadHooverFishing

NO, that’s a whole different story and I have videos on that and will be doing a new one soon. You 100% have to have a variable temp heat gun and welding rods or spare plastic to do that.

That's when you take PVC Pipe and make a Keel Guard, or spend more money and use a name brand product... Glue or Double side tape will hold them on and they are sacrificial like the rear ones on most kayaks.... I used Schedule 40 PVC on my new Hobie PA14 and glued it on with black automotive gasket maker silicone... Of course you'll want to fix existing damage first, so wait for Chad's video...!!!

I worked for dagger back in the 90’s and i welded the kayaks when needed. You can do the same thing with wax paper. And if you’re working a spot with texture use 40 grit sand paper. Heat it up and touch it with the grit

Harbour freight has a cheap plastic wielder that was made a handful of repairs on my current Ascend 12T. Comes with small thin plastic strips for light jobs. You can get a 5 gallon bucket for larger repairs.
@ChadHooverFishing
@ChadHooverFishing 2 жыл бұрын
That’s not polyethylene and it will come off rather quickly with a lot of use. Buckets are made of polypropylene and they don’t bond well. The best option is to get some scrap plastic from your local dealer or order some from the manufacturer

Great video Chad! I just got a brand new unlimited with what looks like a combination of long scratches and air bubbles on the starboard side along the seam. Nucanoe customer service said this was nothing to worry about, but I cant help but think if there's something that obvious, there could be hidden issues. I dont have Instagram or anything but FB. Is there a way I could send you the pics for your experienced opinion?
@ChadHooverFishing
@ChadHooverFishing 2 жыл бұрын
James, you can email them to kayakbassfishing@gmail.com. But I will say up front based on what you stated that they are probably right. That’s called a parting line and it’s where the mold separates (or parts) and they then trim off the excess. Kinda like when a waffle comes out of a waffle iron there are those thin little crispy pieces. Some companies (and even shifts within the same company) do a better job of trimming that and then “flashing” it with a heat gun to get rid of it than others. You can also take a heat gun and a spoon or putty knife and touch it up yourself. Just use something to wet the spoon or putty knife so that it doesn’t stick to the plastic. Hope that helps

I went fishing yesterday morning and the water was low in the river . I ended up hitting something abd getting a leak in my lure 11.5 . i used a atf jug made from recycled hdpe and a woodburner that i bought for $5 about 3 years ago . It did great . Nice and smooth . It matched my ocean camo lure so well that I went and made a keel guard out of sone of the recycled plastic too .

Those logos are a MIG (molded in graphic) which is paint based. So I’m the future if you have that issue you can also use mineral spirits to remove them and then you can wipe it down with water so that it doesn’t continue to “interact” with the polyethylene plastic
