I was a customer service (CS) manager for a private water utility company and dealing with all types of customer issues was a daily norm. In all the CS training I had, one major issue was talking about “company POLICY” and I was trained to NOT talk about it. Instead of using the policy phrase which immediately pisses off a customer is to tell the customer what you CAN do, not what you can’t do. Always ask open ended questions to keep the customer in an adult frame of mind. Great video and subject.

Great info. Purchased a Native Titan X for my wife. The dealer has been very good. I had a few questions for Native and their customer service was fantastic. In fact, I've never had an experience as good as I did with Native.

Great insight that helps give both newcomers and seasoned buyers perspective. Everything man made rusts, busts, or collects dust and will inevitably have a flaw so as much as I believe dealers/manufacturers need to take accountability in those instances we the consumer also need to take the frustrations down a notch to reach a reasonable level of expectations and patience. One cavort I’d like to see addressed though is inconsistency in info or lack there of coming from manufacturers directly regarding a "known issue" I understand they get swamped with emails and phone calls when their main business focus is on production and the dealers are responsible more or less for the customer relation aspect but you can call 4 dealers with the same question and get 2-3-4 different answers. Case in point all the problems with the Hobie PA 360 line, it would go really far if manufactures owned issues and addressed the common questions with a press release that would offer reassurance with consistent info. When a customer gets multiple answers that are conflicting and confusing it adds mountains of frustration! There’s room for both the industry and the users to grow here I think.

If you are getting multiple answers on the same issue, it usually means the issue is worse than you even probably think it is.

This is coming from a guy that is sponsored by Bonafide. I've done the dealer to manufacture warranty process, and Bonafide told me that transporting a kayak in the bed of my truck would cause the issues I had with my kayak hull.

I’m very straight forward about all of that brother. And “BONAFIDE” didn’t tell you that, someone at BONAFIDE told you that. That’s an individual that tried to help you and that’s exactly my point. Your dealer should be the one taking care of you and they would deal with BONAFIDE.

@@ChadHooverFishing The dealer was handling it, and they did everything in there power to make it right. Not on the dealer, that's on the company. That is what Bonafide told the dealer.

Thank you. I will email my dealer tomorrow. My Bonafide RVR 119 has a bad front hatch that leaks. The seal is bad and one of the holes is more of an oval.

That’s an easy fix and the dealer should take care of you. Get some 2” wide weather stripping and replace the seal and it will never leak again.

The reason I purchased my kayak from the dealer I did was they advertise lifetime guarantee on their hulls. I've never had to use it, but if I need it, hopefully it's there.

Nucanoe has been awesome. But with most or almost most of the kayaks being bought on line the dealer experience presents a problem. It’s just like buying a car, if you take it to a dealer you didn’t buy from….good luck.
