Well the other issue that caused black screen of death is a single capacitor on the video output area. It’s just as easy to replace!

Hi! Amazing! I will do just the same, as mine has same problem (light´s on, screen´s black). Any cleaning product suggestion? Thanks again for sharing! I have seen 1000 videos and this one is the easiest to follow. Short, straight to the point, methodic, no comments, and with happy ending (hope I get that end too!)

You'd have to be very lucky if that's all your non-working Genesis needed. It's worth a try before more extensive measures are taken though.

What's my issue if I have to blow the hell out of my cartidge before inserting it each time no matter the game?

The image from my model 2 now has vertical banding on black screens and what I can describe as "ghosting" especially any graphic or logo moving over what should be a black background. I can't imagine this is uncommon for a unit of its age but is it really possible that the visual issue can be resolved by merely cleaning? Or am I probably in store for serious mods and cable/adapter upgrades?

oddly enough, this fixed my no video issue. thought i cleaned it enough, turns out i needed to clean it more.
