How To Fix Slipped Chain Off Guide Bar, ReTension & More | Testing DeWalt DCPS620B Cordless Pole Saw

This is Part 2 of testing our new DeWalt DCPS620B 20V MAX* XR® BRUSHLESS CORDLESS POLE SAW by trimming, cutting down and removing overgrown shrubs and bushes in front of Auntie Tina's house. In this video, Aiman explains and show you how to fix stuck or slipped chain off the guide bar, how to open the sprocket cover and how to re-tension the chain. Aiman also talks about the battery life and his opinion of this tools after using it for several hours.
We've been looking for the best pole saw to trim our pine trees along the border between our property and the neighbor's yard and we finally bought one. After reading the reviews online, some are positive and some are negative, we decided to go with DeWalt DCPS620B 20V MAX* XR® BRUSHLESS CORDLESS POLE SAW (TOOL ONLY). The main reason is because we already have a bunch of DeWalt tools and we already have several packs including the DCB606 20V/60V MAX* FLEXVOLT 6.0 AH BATTERY.
So we bought this saw from Home Depot for $149 (the cheapest price we could find of all the online retailers and local hardware stores -- even Amazon is more expensive. Strangely Lowes does not carry this item).

DeWalt includes an auto-oiling 8″ bar and chain. You can swap that out for a 10″ bar and chain if you like. It has lower kickback and fast cutting. You can cut branches up to 16″ wide when you cut from both sides.
DeWalt includes a 4.0Ah battery in the kit and they tell us to expect the brushless motor to make up to 96 cuts in 4 x 4 PT pine on one charge. It weighs 8.44 pounds as a bare tool.

Thanks for this. My tension screw must have popped off while using. I appreciate you showing the screw location. The couplings get lose if using the full extensions for a couple of hours. They should have used snap lock couplings rather than twists. Also, wish the height was more adjustable.

Hi Aidan, Thanks for the video on how to put the chain back in place. I've just bought a DeWalt pole saw and I'm waiting for some fine weather to test it 🙂 Prior to purchase I did quite a bit of research on various brands. The oil leaking is not limited to the De Walt. This is just one of the comments I found. 'Oil leaking is a common occurrence and does not signify an issue with your Pruner. Oil is pumped through grooves around the chain bar to ensure the chain and bar are lubricated correctly. Therefore it's common and expected to have oil left in these grooves after use.' Cheers Heather ps I think I'll empty the oil after use as I read the oil islikely to become stale if the saw is not in use for some time. I hope all is good with you and your family

Those hand operated clippers come in a larger size. They definitely come in handy in addition to the power tools. I have an iron bar that is around six feet long. It works great for digging up roots. That is hard work but the ground is nice and level afterwards and there is less chance of damage to a lawnmower later on. I saw a guy use a reciprocating saw to cut the roots underground around the bush. It looks like a neat idea. An off-road high jack and chain can be used to pull a bush up. That idea came from KZbin too. The next time you work with that other guy give him some detailed instructions on how to do the work and have him do it. He got way too much rest this time. 😂 I bought the pole saw and used it on some tree branches. A small DeWalt reciprocal saw worked great to cut the branches into small bag size pieces.
