How to: Fix sticky doll hair and glue seepage on Ever After High & Monster High [EASY] (by EahBoy)

Hey everybody!
In this hair tutorial I'll show you how to get rid of sticky hair on your doll!
The sticky doll hair is often a consequence of glue seepage that your doll is struggling from. This often happens to Monster High or Ever After High dolls. I've also had some Barbies, Bratz and Disney dolls with this issue...
There might be other methods, like the Tea Tree Oil method, but for me this baby powder method has always worked really well

listen man today I watched your hair curling video for my G3 Lagoona cause it was so tangled I had to brush out all the curls and re/do them myself. I bought a used Ghoulia who's hair was matty and gross, so i used Fabric softener and it did wonders! My first doll I ever got, Rochelle Ghouls Night Out has stiff, kinda sticky hair. I tried softener and it hardly made a difference. I'm suspecting that she has glue seepage. Ill definitely try this method and let you know!

The glue still get sticky again after time. You have to pop the head off and apply powder inside head as well. Shake the glue bits out. And keep applying.

But even if you do that and pop the dead of correctly without snapping the neck peg it can still damage it, either way. So I wouldn’t suggest or risk that :/

Jane, Quinn, and Grace's Channel well if you remove the head safely and put it back on the neck peg could still get damaged as in it will get slightly bent for example it will be slightly discolored and have white spots because that’s what happens when you bend plastic like that or it could be loose

TheDollBoy I recently got a second hand Gigi (this version) her hair was never taken out of the original factory styling and the stickiness was EXTREME. Her hair left a gooey oily feeling after touching it.

In the US, in the last few years (2020s for sure) no baby powder is on the market because of talc being named as a cancer producer. In the US there's a liquid product, found at dollar (type) stores, called Simply Awesome. I removed the head and soaked it in it and it really did remove the glue (heard about it on a f/b doll page).

You could also just use goo gone or furniture polish. It will fix the problem without making the hair dull & powdery

@@euphsic oh! You get a can of furniture polish (I usually use pledge) and you spray it on the head. Make sure to use a thick coat (so use more then you think you’ll need.) Make sure to massage it thoroughly into the hair and scalp. Then I usually let it sit the doll’s hair for 1-2 hrs (but it really depends on how bad the glue seepage is.) Then wash it out with cool water and either shampoo or dish liquid but I find that dish liquid helps it rinse out better.

I get the best results from setting my dolls upside down in a container filled with GOO GONE. 2 hours. Then wash it out using dish soap . You can also wash one last time with a shampoo formulated for wigs etc... ( it wont make much difference if you don't use the wig shampoo- it's up to you) ........ You've got try this method.... seriously.. Bet results by far... The powder method works well I suppose, but it dulls the shininess of the dolls hair a bit and i don't like the way it looks on dark haired dolls .. Hope you try it... Hope it works as well for you as it does for me!

I've found the best to use is the brand called Goo Gone pro-power goo & adhesive remover, it's safe on the factor painted faces & the hair itself, you saturate the doll hair with it & leave on over night except when the hair is covered with glue completely & mattered badly then I leave it on for 24 hours & the next day or 24 hours wash it out with slightly warm water & Dawn dish detergent first & then wash it again with shampoo & then conditioner, I personally use Suave Professional deep moisture replenish hydrating shampoo & the separate conditioner of the same style & they come out perfect every time. 💜

What worked instantly for me was acetone on a lint free nail wipe but you must be extremely careful! I used it on my vintage bratz doll - I tried methods in this video and it didn’t work

I just bought a Getting Fairest Madeline and her hair is soaked with glue. I can't even brush it and my hands felt like a Jolly Rancher candy melted in them. I'm gonna try this method and see if it works.

I tried that with baby powder too. But somehow I can't get it out of the doll's hair and they totally lose their shine. Then I tried it with salad oil. The same mechanical effect as with baby powder. Just a lot finer. The fat particles bind to the glue in the hair. The problem is when washing out, in the salad oil is not only the oil, but various substances that do not come out with detergent. Then I took grease-based makeup remover. It worked quite well with brushing and then washing out, but not satisfactorily. Due to an accident with color in the doll's hair, I had soaked the hair of a doll in methylated spirits for a month to get the color out. The color came out moderately. But what I found was that stickiness was completely gone. It was the Ghost DracuLaura doll from Monster high with black and pink hair. I had put the pink hair in methylated spirits. The blacks don't. After a month the blacks were still sticky, the pink ones no longer. Since then I put the hair of all the dolls that I paint and / or clothe for the showcase in methylated spirit.

Use goo gone or furniture polish. You’ll get the same result as this without the dullness and powdery feeling

Sarah Nachtrose I mean you can try it. I would test it on a tiny spot first just to make sure it won’t damage the paint. I’ve gotten it on my barbie’s skin tho and it didn’t do anything to it so I think you would be fine to use it for that

I'd have to soak it in denatured alcohol for at least 2 months xD Instead, I'll try furniture polish. Thanks for the tip. 😘 With the other figure I prefer to test it first on a figure that wasn't that expensive. To see if I can increase the gloss of the color. 🤔

I think that that's true and I noticed that my GG seems to be extremely overrooted as well which adds to the big stickiness problem. I Washed and conditioned her hair but its still sitting way up which I think is because she had a high ponytail all of those rubber bands made dents in it but she is beautiful and I love her.

You can also use a product called Goo Gone! Works wonders for glue seepage hair, but will need retreatment if the glue seepage is really bad.

@@mysticamethyst1398 I have found an alternative to Goo Gone that I think works so much better! Pledge! Aka Furniture polish! I used it on my dolls that had glue seepage 3 times and it's worked so well getting rid of the glue! It also left the hair silky soft and flowy! Gonna need to do my Elissabat for a 4th time because she keeps leaking glue everytime I do it on her and think I got it. I thought my Jinafire was the worst one, and she was to start with, but now, Elissabat is the worst one.

DollBoy have you ever tried White Spirit to get rid of stickiness on doll hair? I tried baby once powder and didn’t like the results. But once I quickly dunked doll hair in white spirit and washed them they were clear in a second. But it’s important to work quickly (don’t leave doll hair for longer than a minute) and work in open space with good air circulation. Mask would be necessary too. WS is smelling like nightmare. Also after washing the hair it’s good idea to soak them in clothing conditioner to remove the smell. Also it keeps doll hair clean for a looong time. P.S. my white spirit didn’t destroy factory paint on a dolls face, but I would still recommend to keep dolls face as dry as possible during whole process. P.p.s. Kids don’t try it without adults supervision.

This will only work for very minimal seepage. Anyone have anything better for extremely gluey hair ? Goo gone doesn’t work, and neither does the baby powder with rubbing alcohol dips thing either.
