Yes and the price hasn't gone down. I rang the dealership today and it's £311 including VAT so certainly worth the repair if you have the time skills and tools to do the job. Excellent end to end video. Point taken in earlier comment re lack of commentary but it's the visual that's important 👌 Quick update...with a lot of online searching I managed to find a secondary UK based seller with an unused boxed Valeo unit for sale. That was £135 delivered. Local garage charged £50 for the replacement and I still have the old unit he took out should I decide to make this repair and have it as a spare. All good👍

Very good video, thanks, except for the way of welding. The welder is not a paintbrush of thin. You NEVER must put the thin on it and after, apply it to the area to weld, as that will result in a burned thin and 90% of the cases, in a cold welding. Instead, you must warm the area with the welder and after that, apply the thin to the area already warmed up. Flux is recommended for this case of work, but also applying it to the area, never directly to the welder.That is a common fault of the people whose are not electronics.

No es el cable, es el conector que hay debajo del asiento lo que suele fallar, es una falla muy común, sobre todo en los 3 puertas (puede ser del asiento del piloto o del copiloto). Con el movimiento del asiento, el conector se acaba aflojando y haciendo mal contacto, dando lugar a que salte el testigo del airbag. Si tu fallo realmente es ese, prueba a reconectarlo o directamente sustituir el conector y empalmar con estaño los cables. De todas formas, lo ideal es conectar la maquina de diagnosis al coche y que te diga que airbag es el que te esta fallando. Saludos

Yo tambien tengo el mismo problema, una vez una persona muy alta se subio a mi auto en el asiento de atras, y yo movi mi asiento para darle mas espacio, a partir de ahi me empezo a aparecer ese error en el tablero. Lo bueno fue que deduje bien que es lo que habia causado eso. Aun no desmonto el asiento para ver donde esta el conector, pero si se alcanzan a sentir los cables debajo, asi que cuando llega a aparecer, los muevo un poquito, y la luz de la bolsa de aire desaparece.

Just a little tip for all you unfortunate mk2 megane owners. About 8 months ago i put a new airbag squib on, two days ago for the first time since i've had the car i noticed it had height adjustable steering(lever is ofset under wheel, not central) I moved it to the upper position and guess what, the airbag light came on?? Oh joy! So, if you want to take that 'huge' risk then go ahead, just a word of warning! Oh, and don't do it like i did the day before your MOT! :-)

the mechanism is expensive and not deemed for sudden turns of the wheel. That's when it's usually breaches the airbag tape. If you know you can add the 2 extra wires needed for cruise control :) on the steering wheel.

TIL: This is called a "squib" - just having mine replaced (as I am utterly inept at car maintenance). Never heard of a squib as a car part before, my airbag light was diagnosed as a faulty squib. I thought they were having a laugh, but no, it's a thing!

Hey, I've followed the steps and almost successfully did it all. When I put on the airbag in the wheel I somehow put it in the wrong way and now when trying to remove it, I... Well... Can't remove the airbag. I push hard towards me with the hex key through that hole in the back, but to no avail. I was, am and will be trying, but any info is appreciated!

usually you can cut the old one shorter, if its broken at the connector. Also there is a plastic "tongue" that's breaks also in the process not just the airbag tape.

Most of the time you just need to move or clean the cable plug under the seats.

Ciao c'è da premettere che la Megane II non c'è l'ho più ho un'altra macchina adesso, e credo ci ci siamo ancora dei video dettagliati per eseguire questo lavoro, comunque il contatto strisciante lo avevo acquistato su un sito spagnolo se non erro, però ci vuole molta attenzione e pazienza, prima cosa devi steccate la batteria, poi, con un cacciavite o meglio una 5 esagonale devi inserirla sottostante il volante, devi in pratica sganciare la parte sopra dove c'è il simbolo airbag, spingi e tira contemporaneamente verso l'alto, poi stacca i connettori , poi ci vuole una grossa chiave torx per smontare il bullone centrale, ti consiglio di mettere il volante diritto Prima di tutto e segnate con in pennarello la posizione, ti servirà per il rimontaggio , devi smontare i carter inferiori e superiori e i comandi al volante se li hai poi fai leva e ti viene via il pezzo interessato, se hai un pezzo comprato devi solo rimontarlo, altrimenti devi aprire e cambiare il contatto strisciante, cosa più difficile, prestando sempre attenzione a come sono messi i pezzi, se smonti trovi una finestrella con contrassegnato un pallino nero che indica la posizione giusta della rotazione, se non ti risulta in corrispondenza si spacca appena giri il volante, io ti consiglierei di cambiare il pezzo senza aprire poi devi saldare con apposito saldatore finissimo, un casino, quindi se vuoi cambia il pezzo intero, nel rimontaggio esegui la procedura al contrario, PS fissa bene il volante fai arrivare il bullone al segno fatto in precedenza, il blocco clacson riattacca i connettori che sono colorati es blu e giallo enon ti sbagli, richiudi appoggiando e tirando in giù, e riattacca la batteria, mi raccomando il codice radio e la procedura finestrini, ciao buona serata e in bocca al lupo 🐺
