How to fix the H71 Error on Your Google Nest

Thanks as this is helpful, and I followed your procedure with hope but it does not fix my H71 error code on my only 3 year old NEST thermostat! Then after 2 months of hesitation I just bought a new one (220€) before the fall season... Arghhh! Do you have any upgrade for H71 troubleshooting? If so, please share. 🙏 Because if i have to substitute my nest every 3 years, I'd like to keep one under elbow 🙂

Hey. Sorry to hear it. If you have H71 is more over problem with the heatlink not the thermostat itself. Did you tried to press at least 30 sec the heatlinks button?

@@BotondBereczki Thank you for replying, and highlighting that the issue ought to be within the heatlinks. Yes I tried to press more than 30 sec the heatlinks button with no success, and then again with thermostat moved close to heatlink's... And I tried 2 or 3 times... different days of week.

Hi thank you for the video. I went through all these steps including factory reset on the thermostat and it doesnt seem to want to pair with the heatlink. It was paired before and working but was connected to someone else;s account so I resent it so there shound;t be a reason as to why its not reconnecting again,. Any ideas what else I can try?

@@BotondBereczki Yes manual mode on heat link works ok. I saw the video and taht is the process I went through with the thermostat but if I was to try it again I dont have the option to click reset anymore as it;s stuck on the H71 error and it wont let me leave that screen. I did try pressing the "select" button continuously as I read that will also reset it to factory settings and it did and I tried pairing again but no luck. I had them right next to each other as well. I see another option called replace heat link is that worth clicking on ?

The real fix is a file sent to me by Google to properly reset the display. You connect the display to a computer and replace the file inside the device then run one command in cmd prompt. Fixed mine today after hours of trying everything else .

Thanks for the video. We just installed one today and there is no way I get it working wirelessly. Tried 20sec and 30sec. trying hard to connect without any luck. Looks like a faulty one and not sure how easy it will be to get it replaced. (bought in th UK and using it now in Hungary) Might just leave it. Can control it over the home nest or phone...

Re-read and watched again, the 6 digit code I was putting in to reset was the one off the back of the stat not the one inside the white wall controller ! So stupid, like sawing off the branch you are sitting on !. Anyway once I put the wall unit code into the thermostat it burst into life…..happy days
