Hey Will - have just acquired an 06 3.2 S very similar to yours incuding the non-elastic roof issue. Sorted this today with 1" black elastic from Hobby Craft. £2.60. The optimium length of the peice you need to cut from the roll is 100mm. This gives sufficient tension to align the tonneau cover properly but leaves enough slack so the mechanism isn't under stress at rest (when the top is down). Great channel - enjoying your content and will be trying the HVAC switches next (they're predictbale gammy). Cheers!

I have exactly the same problem for a minute I thought it was my car...Great video very helpful...Will have a go at it when weather is better ...thanks...just subbed

Thanks for watching Del. It's pretty easy once you have an alan key or ratchet. The new elastic is even stronger than the factory stuff so it should last a long time. Good luck with your fix :)

My 2005 Boxster S has the same exact problem. I tried this repair after watching a different video, but I don't think I got the elastic installed with enough stretch for it to work properly. I'll try it again soon and post my results. Thank you for your Boxster S content, it's very helpful!

Thanks for a great video tutorial. I’ve watched a few of these now, and you seem to explain it the best 👍 I would be really interested in what a garage/ roof repairer’s would charge ??

Thanks for watching mate. Not sure how much it would cost. I have read on a forum that someone took it to a main dealer and they quoted for a new roof!

I look forward to some of the maintenance videos. Because I only got the car in Feb 23. I did notice the roof issue when buying. I found out the reason was the elastic. I think I’ll try that myself.

I had the same problem with my 2006 Boxster and I repaired it with the same method except without removing the screw. It's time to do it again though. Seems to be a recurring problem. Thanks for the video!

When you say ‘pin’ in the video, is that the screw ?

That’s a great fix. My Boxster is a 2008. And it’s got that problem. I just put the roof forward slowly and tuck the cover in each time inside the rubber rail. If I open and close it, it won’t sit right. Stitch or staple. I liked the idea. But will it hold?
@will_behind_the_wheel Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The staples feel very strong. Epsecially once you put a few in.

I'm about to perform the same fix on a 2007, think it's that time in the lifecycle where these items need to be addressed

Thanks for watching. It seems to be that way. Good luck with the repair :)

Hi there, I have 2007 Boxster S. I noticed that my roof was missing the passenger window as I retracted it and was going on the inside of the window. It’s something that needs to be fixed. Probably a similar issue to yours

HI Robert. Thanks for watching. there are other elastics in the roof that I can see have lost their stretch. Maybe replaceing these aswell will help.

I’d love a video on fixing the B pillar trim. It’s a fing $1400 us to replace it. I’d rather sell the car. Why do these German manufacturers do this stupidity ?
