Those service prices don't include VAT. I would say keep to the manufacturer service schedule but with an annual oil & filter change.

Wow, that's very interesting you broke it down as monthly costs. So from an American perspective costs so far for 2024 on my 2006 CS : Oil changes are about 85 bucks for the kit every 6 months, i do the work, Tires new set of Michelin Pilot 4 S $1350, Registration- $326, smog check is every other year, i think that's 80 bucks. Insurance pretty cheap i think its maybe $800. i bought front and back brake kits i'll be changing soon, $425 each. It's not cheap like my Camry but its hella fun to drive! Thank you for the very cool and informative video!

Great vid as always, Will. I found it very interesting comparing costs in the UK compared to Australia. Due to luxury car import tax, my 06 Boxster S will set you back about $55,000 AU down under (a shade over 20k English pounds). Agreed value insurance around $100AU per month. The rest is very comparable. I don't use mine as a daily drive so I would expect my Michelin PS4's ($2000AU a set) to last me three years or so. I haven't had to tackle the brakes yet. I would estimate since purchase, including two services and a replacement temp sensor (so far, its only fault) that my baby is setting me back about $300AU a month. Small price to pay imho🙂

Hi will, I’ve had my 06 987.1cayman for 3 months and absolutely love it but …………… took it to maundrells because of a noise from the engine area ………they did a full vehicle health check and found that all coils were badly cracked ( deffo over three months ago it would have happened !!) and there is a noise from the water pump which needs further investigation and a leak from the a/c pipes at the rear of the car !!!!!!!! Maundrells said they would have never sold the car in that state !!! Going to ring the specialist that sold me the car to see what they say if it’s a tough sh#t from them I have a warranty to fall back on !! So just a quick heads up for any future buyers Get a really good inspection done before parting with your hard earned dosh. Love your vids by the way mate

thanks for watching mate Maundrells arent too far from me i look at their cars all the time on auto trader. Thats a shame you have had issues but good you have a warranty to cover you. I wish i had a buyers inspection and will 100% be getting one on a car i buy in the future. I'd be interested in your experience on what the seller says.
@TJSTR
@TJSTR Күн бұрын
To be honest if the warranty doesn’t cover it then research the consumer rights act. If a respected specialist says it was a fault which was older than 3 months and they would not have retailed the car then you may have a right to help from the seller even if they don’t think so. You weren’t expecting a brand new old car but you could maybe expect more than you got here. Perhaps you wouldn’t expect the entire cost covered but some contribution (fingers crossed the warranty covers it anyway).

@@willbehindthecamera update !! Dealer has said coil packs were ok when they sold me the car !!! ( of course they were ) but that is a fair wear and tear issue which I suppose is true 😞. May as well get sparkers done at the same time I’ll worry about the a/c pipes another day !!!

The drainage thing is a common problem on all modern day Porches hardtop and cabriolets Also I wouldn’t recommend a cheap obd 2 scanner you would be better off to buy one that gives you the ability to reset service intervals and program certain electronics including the battery. If you are not planning to drive the car for a long periods you just disconnect the battery cables and don’t close the hood just leave the front hood slightly closed not fully closed if you are concerned about battery life even after you have disconnected the battery start your car once a week and keep it running for at least 20 minutes or drive it to your local grocery store also to keep engine oil in all the right areas to prevent bore scoring.

Too late now but I would have explored redress from the seller. I’m not sure that ‘sold as seen’ removes the legal obligations of a trader under the consumer rights act. If it was sold with a known and declared problem then that’s fair but, if it isn’t fit for purpose (as a car!) after 4 days then I think they may have been responsible for a disastrous pre existing issue like this. If anyone else is in this position then I’d advise them to at least look into it before paying themselves. Be fair to traders for sure - I’ve seen some stories of really unreasonable buyers expecting a 10 year old car to be brand new - but make sure your rights are respected.

I've got the same booster jump pack and it's saved me after shutting the bonnet with a disconnected battery, and when the battery died. Something to note (note sure if it's specific to that jumper pack), but it didn't like me having it on the red fuse and the ground point, so I had to use the manual override button on it.

Re the Frunk release, JR Garage have a whole channel on buying non starting Boxsters from auction and getting up under front wheel arch to pull a cable manual release for the front boot, so worth knowing that’s an option too 😊. Love the trombone cleaner and will pick one of those up myself now, thanks 😊 but don’t forget the rear drain holes from convertible roof too as they’ll soak the back of cabin and fry the module under the passenger seat if blocked.

I had 987.2 it was marred by one niggle after another including two badly corroded drive shaft after I did AOS, coffin arm, window regulator then the AC stopped working. I sold it and bought 981 with 2 years Porsche warranty, I have no issues and get almost 340 to a full tank of Ron 99 compared to 225 I got with the 987.2. The two car are similar in power but completely different chassis setup with 981 being way advanced compared to the 987 dated chassis. Edit Don’t be too optimistic about beating a base 981 😂 as you keep going about losing power, you might be in for a surprise because the 981 S feels almost the same as 981 base with a torque advantage more noticeable on a hills. I will gladly take you on at the traffic lights without hesitation because you will have to squeeze every single bit of your 20 bhp advantage.

I sold it back to the dealer and after preparing it he spit on a week! I didn’t plan to keep it long term but I do miss it and may have another someday, either 987.2 or 981.
