Thank you for taking the time and recording this. Might I suggest inserting a Trim Curve node on the profile circle before the Capture attribute node as a shorter way to achieve the same result?!

Worked perfectly! Thank you for this advice! First I had a gap at end and start point due to both points not coming in in the same angle. but as my nodes setup is based on a Bézier curve object this is still one bezier point in edit mode. I just had to shortcut „v“ and set the handle type to automatic and the small gap nearly disappeared (I used it to make a road track)

@@manmadeartists i’m glad it worked out.

Damn that was a simple fix, with a great insight. Thanks for keeping it so precise. Subbed for more!

Amazing thank you! The problem that I am running into now is that the "fill end caps" don't work with the proxy mesh.
@denoa3D8 ай бұрын
Yes, I didn't cover that in the video. The caps need to be created separately to keep the usable UV map. Essentially, you just use the profile curve and fill it with the "Fill Curve" node, than place it at both ends. Though, you may need to merge the vertices to create a single mesh at the end, and that creates the risk of accidentally merging points that might be too close and corrupting the topology, so you have to chose if it is worth it :) I have a full "Curve to Mesh with UV" node in my useful nodes pack, you can find it here deanzarkov.gumroad.com/l/many_useful_nodes. There it has the Fill Caps option.

Thank you for sharing. I tried to do it your way and it works, but if the "Profile Curve" uses a curve from the scene, the UVs are a mess ......😭😭

"Trim Curve" for the profile curve should work too.

very useful ! but what if i use a bezier curve as profile curve.will this method be working?
@denoa3D9 ай бұрын
It should work with any profile curve, test it out ;)

how to do this for a torus ?
@denoa3D11 ай бұрын
To make it work, when both of the curves are closed, like on a torus, you basically have to make the same proxy line, but for the main curve. So create the same setup twice. In a sense, you will create a proxy plane, that you will read the face corner data from.
