worked perfectly. I had exactly the same issue. Just got it back from the dealer and I'm not sure if it was the alignment or the rotation or what but suddenly it was rubbing on that front corner of the bumper. It was always really close but now it was a machine gun like you said when i made a full stop turn like backing into my parking space. I wasn't ready to do any kind of viper or even baby viper cut so trimming with the clippers and just pushing back the inner fender walls was enough to give me the clearance I needed.

The only problem is, if you go off road it’s going to rub with any actual use of your suspension.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Depends I think on how hardcore your going off road. I’ve been on rough terrain and had some good articulation of the suspension and not heard any rubbing. But If your going to go with this size level suspension (which is minimal) and this size tire, you might expect that if you hammer it off road. If your worried about touching at all while off reading then I’d go with a bigger and upgraded suspension system. Otherwise your next step with this combo would be some type of Viper cut on your fenders and go from there. Which I like the look of those viper cuts and front bumpers, we’re just not there yet on this build.

No problem man. Yes I got the 9 inch wheels with the -12 offset and I did not do any UAC. With this type of lift usually you don’t need that and this thing drives like a dream. So I’ve had zero problems I believe once you go more than 2 1/2 or 3 inches on left you will have to do the UAC

Hmmm. Im not sure on that back part if it’s till hitting. What size tires did you go with? Bigger than I did in this video? I have decent clearance on these. But maybe the brand of tire/tread is a little different. You might need an alignment adjustment possibly or a little bit more of a lift. Like a spacer or maybe pushing the tire in or out. Like more or less offset of the wheel to stop it from making contact.

@FortKnoxCo

With no lift you will have major running issues. You need some added clearance to fit these tires specifically. If you went with a smaller and maybe skinnier tire you could reduce the problem….but then your looking back at factory size and type of tires.

What's your wheel offset? I have -10 in same tire diameter as yours but with a 1.25" spacers and I'm rubbing on the body mount. Just wondering if I could remove the spacers it could clear mine. Thanks
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
I believe these are -12 offset. I have a related video that should be tagged in this at the end or it can be found in my video library. I put it out just before this. I explained the exact offset and lift I used from stock and the tire size. We do not have any spacers on this and I had very minimal tire rub and I fixed it in this video. But in that other video, I explain all the exact numbers.
@synth505
@synth505 11 ай бұрын
The spacers add offset to the wheel. So with a 1.25" spacer you actually have a - 42 offset. The more offset you have, the more clearance you need for turning radius. Ideal offset is 0 to +15 which is what the stock wheels are.

@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
It should be pretty similar, but in all honesty, you need to pull the vehicle forward and back at a full turn left and right to see where it’s rubbing on your vehicle. These things can be slightly different depending on what your alignment is the wheel set up and whatever lift you have. But whatever it is, it should still be minor trimming of the plastic areas that I showed in this video.

@@FortKnoxCo Brian, I was at discount tire this morning and was ready to put on the 285's. They were nice enough to do just the front driver side to see the fitment. The problem was the rubbing on the body mount with the rock trix 17x9 -12 offset. I was bummed at that point and decided to go with the 275/70/17, which will be installed next Thursday, because I didn't want to do that modification. If you running 2+ inch lift you can run 285 with -12 offset but might rub on the body mount on certain situations when flexing suspension. Also for everyone that I’ve learn from and experience now I highly suggest every 4Runner owner get SPC UCA to have caster adjustments to help move forward keeping away from body mount and for that 285 is the highest tire size. Other reasons for having better caster adjusted would be better return to center of steering and stability.

I believe it is C 6-ply. The E-10 ply is a little too much heavy duty and more weight. I’ve heard it can cause problems all around with the drivetrain. But other people might have some experience with that. But in all reality at 10 ply would be something for real heavy duty towing, which of these vehicles shouldn’t be doing anyways.
