Excellent video. Great explanation and labeled pictures- I had this EXACT problem. I was going to replace the switch also but I was shocked at how much they cost, and I'm afraid a used one will just have the same problem- it appears to be very common with this generation Highlander. I have to wonder how much the actual circuitry differs from the Highlander to say, a Camry- which doesn't have the inclined board/water accumulation problem. The switches themselves look identical and I know the Camry, Sienna, Rav-4, Corolla, Matrix, and Tacoma use the same switch- it's hard to imagine the Highlander one is actually any different- but maybe it is. Anyway- I'd rather fix it the one I have anyway.

Many thanks for your video. Thanks to you we can learn to fix and feel more satisfied with a fixing and the savings involved than just purchasing a new part and continue being uneducated about why the button stopped working. Thank you again.

Appreciate the work and editing that goes into the video. You do not have to have the same car but it's good to know how automakers' electronic modules can fail and how to fix them.

Bro - I face the same problem on my Cruze. Sadly I was convinced the issue is on the passenger switch. Thanks so much… by the way are you Ethiopian? Your accent resembles like my Ethiopians 😊

How did you find that there is no connectivity between two points?

Use a continuity tester on a multimeter. lot of multimeters these days have audible sound to test continuity. You can also google "How to test continuity"

Having the same problem but with Toyota's stupidly expensive sister company Lexus. They want $840 for a new unit!

You can find a less expensive part online, and install it yourself.

Mine is broken just like yours, may I know what's broken?
@ktdiy98184 жыл бұрын
Hi Fajar. It can be like mine or it can be different problem, like corroded and broken circuit line or faulty component.... You have to take it apart and check continuity. Thanks for your comment.

You could have simply used a hot soldering iron and reflowed the solder (inside the pass-thru hole) instead of all that wiring or whatever it was that you used.
@tinydragonlabs Жыл бұрын
The wire was to test it. If you had simply watched until the end, he did solder it after the test was successful.
@MarkSWest Жыл бұрын
@@tinydragonlabs I did watch to the end. I've been repairing electronics for over 60 years. I've fabricated integrated circuits with Intel Corp and IBM and others for over 30. This video is okay if you've never dealt with this type of repair I guess, not sure why even clicked on it.
