How To Fix Vocals That Were Recorded In An Untreated Room (De-verb)

Most home studios and project studios do not have great rooms to record vocals in. Most are untreated completely. An artist based out of Texas, named JonBoi, recorded this session himself at his house with an Mbox 3 and an AKG C214 in an untreated empty bedroom closet. Today we will walk through how I process vocals, to fix room reverb, room resonance, and home studio vocals that were recorded in less than ideal conditions. I hope you enjoy, thank you for watching.

One thing I will say about this video bro is that it's so much simpler to fix untreated bedroom vocals compared to your way.. but by all means do your thing! Also you should print the treated vocals first to a new track or bus to reduce CPU usage by stacking all the plugins on one track.

Absolutely, but sometimes you get vocals sent to you that didn't have treatment. Can't really control that.

@audiofreq hi dude , how you doing , Just a question, You were recording yourself in this video with a condenser micorphone right !? So i can hear the background or the ac noise , Would you tell me how can we avoid that or fix that if the room is untreated!?

Yes, only for the video. But for music I record with the air conditioner off. But Izotope RX has some really cool tools for taking out background noise. You could also try a gate that only opens when the vocals are above the threshold.
